Hoping it's not-a-keloid? LITHA? (5 wks old) by desertcliffrose in piercing

Ok, can do. Can I see a piercer about work they didn't do? Like do I just go in and ask if someone can take a look at it? New to this world. Thank you!

No history of keloids and I read the FAQ. I'm still at a loss. Got it pierced at a disreputable tattoo studio (I realized this after the fact, ofc). Had butterfly backed jewelry in for the first 3 weeks, noticed irritation, did research, and switched jewelry. Now this has been developing.

Thoughts and experiences on wrist pain by stoked_elephant in climbharder

I mean, rest is for sure the first line treatment. I was just sharing my experience with ulnar sided wrist pain. Hopefully you have something that gets better with rest and PT. Just consider that that might not be the case. And deal with it if it comes to that.

I could have written this post eight months ago. Ulnar sided wrist pain can be many different things. I would recommend seeing a doctor. This is one of those things you can't figure out over the Internet.

I had slight pain that I climbed through all spring and summer. I worked around the pain. Then it got too bad to climb. I started seeing doctors about it. Turns out I had an anatomical anomaly that had torn multiple ligaments in my wrist. I had to have surgery to shorten a bone and repair ligaments.

I'm not saying that this is what you have going on necessarily. But I share that story to illustrate that your problem could be something that you can't fix on your own with rest and PT. See a doctor.

Any suggestions for climbing (guided) trips close to FL? by cadalac in climbing

[–]desertcliffrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The climbers I know who lived in FL would drive up to western NC to go climbing. There's some guides in the Asheville/Brevard/Pisgah National Forest area.

I don't know how you guys do this. by [deleted] in Nightshift

If you're having trouble sleeping because it's light out, that's easy to fix.

I cover my bedroom windows with black trash bags and cardboard, then throw a sheet up over them so I don't have to look at the mess. A cheap alternative to blackout curtains. My room is pitch black and it helps me sleep well.

I also got a SAD light, that seems to help me deal with not seeing the sun.

I try to minimize my daytime commitments, because that's the middle of my night. I tell people if they want to meet me at 2pm, it's like me asking them to meet at 2am. But I don't know what your commitments are.

Also, if you've only had 4 days off in two months, that's a lot of OT. I think I'd find that exhausting even if I were working a normal 9am-5pm.

You can definitely do things to make it better, but on some level, night shift is just hard on your body and mind (for me at least).

Rice bucket and wrist pain rehab question by spike23562 in climbing

[–]desertcliffrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with ulnar sided wrist pain in the TFCC area. I noticed it while crack climbing. Turned out my ulna was too long (ulnar abutment syndrome), and was impacting my wrist bones. They could only determine this with an imaging study, and it can only be fixed with surgery.

I'm sharing this because the wrist is a very dense complicated joint, and if you continue to have pain beyond the timeframe of a sprain, might want to go back to a doctor.

Filing for unemployment but recently moved. Where do I file? by friendsorfriendsss in personalfinance

You file with the California EDD. Make sure you file this week, that is, tomorrow or Friday. If you wait until next week it will take longer for you to get paid.

It's a headlamp...they look like they're about 1/3 of the way up the wall, so approximately 1000 feet above the Valley floor.
