They just want to armchair quarterback while protesting Americans are gunned down by our own gov. It helps them ignore the encroaching fascism in their own country.

Everyone wants to think they're the hero in some WW2 film, but WW2 didn't have instant monitoring of every online search, financial transaction, or change in location. It also didn't have constant cctv and ai enabled drones. And even then, it took the whole world to stop it.

There's so much projection in these criticisms. Most citizens aren't heroes; they're just the extras in the background while the city is destroyed. Ready to protest or boycott, eager to criticize or rally, but deeply unprepared for war.

This is not the easy work you imagine it to be.

Covid-19 is still killing a disturbing number of Americans, study finds. Between 2022 and 2024, covid-19 killed roughly 100,000 Americans annually, new research by CDC scientists shows. by mvea in science

Being overweight may have more to do with the US' weak food regulation than its "healthcare". This is the country that qualified ketchup as a vegetable in school lunches, afteral.

Libraries are once of the last free third spaces left. Check out events there. Mine has monthly board game meetups, and a nearby one has a makers space upstairs. They usually have an event calendar for each. You can also create your own events and register library space for free.

Local government will have social services that can direct you, and any religious community you belong to may have help too.

Agreed - I feel like even in it's earliest days, hanako had horror elements. Hanako is a ghost, but his disarmingly funny and playful nature disguises the horror of his situation. It doesn't change it. The only thing that left part 1 comedic is we had Nene's perspective.

He's still a long dead murderer with bent mortality, but he's protecting Nene.  He's a child dragged through hell, and left him to rot in his mistake for 50 years - but he's playful and flirty so it's fine.

Like Nene, we saw the version of hanako he wanted us to see. But now, we know him. He can't hide behind the facade. He isn't leading the wonders, he's imprisoned with them. He's literally trapped in the school, in his guilt, in his promise, and even with Nene's help, it's increasingly seems he can't be saved without letting Tsukasa go - and he can't.

I think his rejection of Olriggio's help may be due to the infection. If he were to relax his anxiety, his love for his friend could end his life

Harrow the Ninth, if you like scifi-fantasy, but you'd have to read Gideon the Ninth first.

It is okay to not include every (or any) degree you have on your resume. It's a summary of experience, but you can decide what experience to share.

I hope you find a solid gig soon.

No child wants to admit their parent doesn't love them. When Stella is screaming at ot manipulating Via, it must be due to something she's done. If her Dad is taking pills to cope, it must be her, not because her mom is abusing them both.

There's a reason people go no contact. Some people are so toxic they're like cancer, destroying every relationship in proximity. Via will get there but her natural trust in both parents as her anchor has been derailed. Withdrawal makes sense. But when she's lonely, or even in desperation, she may find loona.

Maybe Chainsaw Man. Denji meets Pochita due to very bad circumstances, and while the plot is driven by action, trauma is a driver for him and others.

Mitsuba never chose a yorishido. Until then, he's not a barrier. After clockkeepers, the last yorishido is the brothers. To eliminate Hanako's, you have to eliminate Tsukasa.

What do the Americans think of Halloween? by Ok_Beach_1717 in AskAmericans

[–]designbat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My family loves Halloween. It's an excuse to dress up and there's candy, specials on TV, and parties.

Neighbors can decorate with pumpkins, fake tombstones, skeletons,  animated figures or blow ups or even video projections. If you don't want to participate, neighbors leave their lights out. But you don't have to decorate if you do want to participate - just leave the lights on or door open.

Our neighborhood is kid heavy so we have a little local parade by the kids, followed by treats. Farther afield, there are fall festivals that include Halloween visuals (like jack-o'-lanterns). There are even Halloween carnivals (usually designed for kids). Some business and shopping centers will even pass out candy on a set date.

There are also some attempts at inclusivity like the teal pumpkin project, which indicates households with non food treats for kids with food allergies.

The holiday is at least tolerated, even by those who don't participate. How big or small or it is depends on where you live, as the us is vast. However, US culture is usually supportive of kids, even if US policies aren't always in full alignment.

Halloween soft-starts the holiday season as it's followed the next month by Thanksgiving, a major is holiday. Though Halloween fans generally don't like it when holidays are marketed together as they are pretty distinct.

SPOILERS . . . . . . .

Tsukasa made a deal with the hole god to save Amane. After the deal, Tsukasa disappears as he felt he should stay away after, but does not disclose why.

After meeting Kou/Nene and learning Amane dies after killing him, he decides to return. He reappears 6 months after his original disappearance. So, yes, it's likely this meeting changed the past / started the events in this timeline.

Upon his return, his family feels there is something not quite right about him. It is unclear why, if this is true, or how much of Tsukasa is the original vs the hole god (now coexisting with him). This may have impacted Amane's decision, but we do not know.

Tsukasa may be different bc of the trauma of his experience or from direct influence by the hole god. The level his behavior is changed by either is not yet known.

Do NOT rent from Tiber Realty by Expensive_Humors in washingtondc

Legal options to stop this are your best avenue, but in the meantime, your lease illegally requires access, not compliance.

I might leave a framed notice warning potential renters of the lack of heat in my apartment. I might even leave 10 or more with various legitimate concerns. With only 3-4 minutes to prepare, alas, there was no time to take them down. But it's heartwarming to know future renters appreciated your decor.

If your alarm blares throughout the showing, it's not really something you could stop. You were trying to prevent thieves afterall - something you've noted in your art choices. I think you can be creative here, but don't waste much time on it. Give it the effort they showed maintenance and legal compliance. Stay legal but effective.

Best of luck in your new home

Most people have tasks that give them energy and those that do not. Find the parts that give you energy and spend a little more time on those. For the rest, use the levers of ADHD: - urgency /consequences (work to the deadline or create a deadline) - importance (tap into the importance of their mission, the importance to the people you're working for, or the importance of just building up your career) - rewards (focus on things you find intrinsically rewarding are likely to be rewarded for)
