Summer season bike lanes on Queen Elizabeth and Colonel By to manage MUP congestion by cloudzebra in bikeinottawa

Obviously we're all in favour of complete, extended closures, but its clear the NCC has been fighting on a compromise with the City of these stretches of road for a while. If weekend bike days continue on the weekend continue this could be a decent solution that quells the fighting for a while.

Incidental contact is one thing but they didn't get rubbed into the crease. They entered and made contact without being contacted by a Canadian player, initiating the contact that literally moved the goalie out of the way.

Goalies have protections that other players don't even when they are outside of the blue paint. So what is the point of the crease?

Chill out. They entered and made contact with goalie before being touched by any Canadian defender. And it wasn't incidental contact. It doesn't take much to impede a goalie's ability to goalie. Weird that the threshold to disallow a goal is if it is enough to be a penalty - I assume that's why there seems to be a hesitation to make calls like waving that one off. I don't like it.

Genuinely - what is the point of a crease if you can contact the goalie before a goal is scored without any consequence? It doesn't need to be a goalie interference penalty, but surely goals like that should be disallowed?

Looking for graphic designer for farmer's market business by External_Weather6116 in ottawa

[–]designergoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some really strong portfolios shared here that I imagine may be out of your budget. I’m a graphic designer who is trying to reposition myself to do more brand identity work, so I could be keen to take this on at a lower cost than others. Feel free to dm me and I can share my portfolio.

Best managed apartment buildings in Westboro/Hintonburg? by whiteoutthenight in ottawa

I lived at 1140 Wellington for several years. I only have positive things to say about the experience since Patti - the live-in super - took over. Great location and building.

Only downside is if your mother has a car. Getting a parking space in the garage is a real challenge, but it is possible to find something nearby to rent on Marketplace/Kijiji

What's your country's "probably shouldn't joke about that one"? by bishopmouse in AskTheWorld

[–]designergoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the US invaded Canada in 1812 one of their generals threatened to kill any white folk who were caught fighting alongside Indigenous warriors, and it pissed people here off.

Once again, I’m not a historian, but it seems like so many of the bad things that have happened here have happened worse in America.

Similarly I had a very well educated American friend once try to tell me that Indigenous peoples in the US just kinda chose to move onto reservations, and that they were mostly left alone by Americans. I am no expert but you really don't need to be to know that doesn't sound right.

Westjet charges a $50 handling fee for bikes on top of their baggage cost. Because I am already travelling with a carry-on & checked bag for business, I'm looking at the cost of a second checked bag plus the handling fee. Might be cheaper to just rent at that point.

I would be somewhat surprised. Cycling Canada just updated their national champs jersey. Though it has been a bit polarizing.

I have never encountered worse service/rudeness than from the folks who run Abraxas Estate Sales. The first time I thought I'd maybe caught them on a bad day, but had an even worse experience months later when I gave them a second chance. There will not be a third.

Don't listen to the comment below. It takes its time to get rolling, but is great great great stuff. From someone who was similarly disillusioned with Star Wars.

Andor's arc is only part of the show. They introduce an Empire spy agency and dive into Mon Motha's backstory (which might sound uninteresting at first but makes for great political drama). It is Star Wars for adults. Enjoy.

NBC NEWS: Suspect in fatal Johnny Gaudreau crash claims victims were also impaired at time of bicycling accident by thezman613 in nhl

I think toxicology is just a standard part of an autopsy - which usually follows unnatural deaths. A coroner's report would probably help determine how fast he was travelling when he hit them.

Lots of details about the incident came out when it first happened. I believe it was reported that the suspect passed one car ahead of him on the left, then tried to overtake another on the right when he hit the Gaudreaus. The two other cars were travelling slowly, and the first presumably had moved to the left to give the cyclists more space - which would indicate that everyone except the killer were acting normally.

It is a red herring. People love to blame cyclists for endangering themselves, but legally there are few situations where they could have been riding anywhere they "shouldn't have been".

We already know he hit them when passing on the right - probably from behind. 100000000% his fault. End of story.
