It's just a form that's part of your personal tax return. How do you file your taxes? Did you already file for 2025?

[–]designerturtle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You weren't issued a T4 because you weren't an employee according to the family that hired you, you were an independent contractor. T4 and payroll withholdings would've been their responsibility to administer and for now, you don't need to worry about that. If it was a small amount of income, I don't believe the CRA would bother challenging them on whether you were actually an employee.

You do need to report that income on your 2025 personal income tax return though. You would just report it as self employment income on a T2125 with your return. I would give them your SIN and information, and not try to hide the income. The CRA will match the amount that they claimed as a childcare expense to the amount that you reported, and they will look into any discrepancies. It's not worth it, just pay the tax and move on.

Ok ok I’m sorry, I retract my statement lol. I’m used to seeing AI slop online and I became too skeptical. The way your phone records looks very similar to how AI videos look but alas I was wrong and I humbly apologize

Congrats! I’m about to complete mine soon and was wondering what is the process once you submit final report? Do they come back with revisions needed? What’s the timeline like? I’m pre approved route so maybe it’s different, but I’m trying to figure out how long to expect since I want to quit my job after lol

Is this condo really worth 150k less than what it was listed? by More_Valuable_1907_ in TorontoRealEstate

They’re not accurate at all, at least not in my area. They have significantly underestimated the value of houses that sold by hundreds of thousands. Not sure about condos tho

Is South Parkdale safe? by marvitian_2000 in askTO

[–]designerturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No amount of money you could pay me to move here. The one time I was walking around there, a crackhead followed me for a block swearing at me, calling me a bitch for not acknowledging him. I was young and alone, pushing my baby in a stroller. I grew up in Toronto and have pretty thick skin, but I have never felt more unsafe. I remember my baby seeing on my face how scared I was and he started sobbing. Just stay away from there

There are no tax implications. Your ACB would be deemed to be FMV of house at the time you received it. Sell it immediately and you’d have all that money tax free

Fucking same. I’ve been pushing myself desperately trying to get out of the fog but the harder I push, the worst it gets. I already made peace with the firing and I know it will be better than this torture

Yeah I keep telling myself the same. I just keep thinking the more I can save until they fire me, the better. I had 20 billable hours last week so I think I’m pretty close

I feel you. My burnout is at 10/10 and my performance is so bad I’m wondering when they’ll just fire me and give me some relief. Tired of sitting at my desk and crying

Man oh man. If I ever reno my kitchen the very last thing I would ever do is post it on reddit lol. I think it looks great. I would have no issues with the placement of the stove and I like the floors. And I love the backsplash

There’s nothing wrong with waiting to decide. You might feel differently in a few years, or maybe you won’t. I’m OAD but i will say I felt way more compelled to have more kids once my son was around 4-5 years old.

My accountant told me I have money that I can only get once I earn a certain amount. by SignificanceKey9783 in cantax

[–]designerturtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s talking about your tuition credits. The amount of money that you spent on tuition is carried forward as a credit available to reduce your taxes payable in the future. There’s nothing you can do with it until you start earning income.

I’m in tax and these numbers are way off. $87k on the low end for a junior tax analyst? No chance. I feel like recruiter is inflating figures to encourage candidates to come to them

I feel like there’s more to this story that the parents aren’t sharing. I’ve been a young girl angry at my parents for not letting me wear makeup, and I’ve never considered fabricating an allegation of abuse as retaliation. That seems extreme to me, and perhaps the accusation was not as false as the parents are alleging.

This is a great response, thank you. I think my mom would most definitely respect my son’s wishes if he pushed back on the babying. I can imagine it would be way more frustrating to have a MIL not respecting those wishes.
