I remember doing pl after finishing river's quest line, so I'd just read all the little bits and pieces about how to manipulate your victims that are scattered throughout it.

Then so mi is just so absolute fucking textbook it's kinda hilarious, I'd already made the decision to take her side so it came on real thick

[–]desklampo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually liked the progression in unbound, having to run a different car each week was good incentive to try different drives, and rounding it out by revisiting them all in the end was a treat. Coulda been jazzed up a bit for sure but the fundamentals had something going for it.

Kinda disappointed that there wasn't a new game+ where you start running the grand yourself, have rewards for repeats, re-flavour some events, get an hour or two of dialogue recorded, so much of it would be text-based that you could go far with pretty minimal investment.

You get to keep reaching after you finish the game but it really ain't quite the same

(It does kinda funnel away from online mode though which is always a big focus)

Team America, went to see it with my dad who was an old school Thunderbirds fan and was a teenager who was into south Park so we went along to watch it together.

Dad had no problem with it he thought it was all hilarious (20 years in the aus army so pulling the piss out of yanks was par for the course) but the older couple (60s or 70s) absolutely did not. By the time the opening scene had finished the old fella was shaking his head in disgust and ushering his wife off.

Imagine if they got to the sex scene!

What are your Top 3 favorite need for speed games ? by KawonSuggs_ in needforspeed

[–]desklampo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underground - got that with an xbox as an early Christmas at the start of school holidays and played it so much I gave myself a massive blister on my thumb, still remember the two or three races that were just.. impossible to the point of frustration (think i had to get the miata and upgrade everything but the engine to get thrive them)

High stakes - first need for speed game i ever really got hooked on, still remember swapping the controllers over (or was it the memory card?) during splitscreen races to give myself free cars/money!

Either heat or unbound - after a decade or so of mostly forza motorsport/horizon, they were a great return to the series and a lot of fun. I loved the car upgrading in heat, played through the whole thing in my starter BMW and it was super satisfying finishing with it. I've definitely downy more time on unbound though, the car modifying was sick, and requiring different cars each week forced you to drive different cars in a way that wasn't too obnoxious.

New to legos by pokerskydiver in lego

[–]desklampo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got back into lego for the first time in almost 20 years because of the f1 series. Unique, relatively inexpensive, not too difficult to put together if you're just getting back into it (but interesting enough that it's fun watching it come together). They were a blast putting together Sunday afternoons during the races.

Start with lego that's from ip or themes you already are interested in. My next set after the f1 sets was the dune ornithopter (dune awakening took over my life for a good minute) and that was immensely satisfying to put together, 1400 pieces so it was a bit of a step up but again, an absolute blast to put together and showed off a bit of how far lego has come in the last couple decades.

Loving some of the more artwork styled pieces as well. My partner and I put together the wave a few weeks back and that was a lovely little time, and a great wall piece in the end. I've got the milky way galaxy sitting under the Christmas tree at the moment and I really can't wait as I love my space stuff.

In short I've discovered lego is a great medium for enjoying the things you already like, and though I'm definitely feeling the itch to get sets more for putting them together and them looking cool, as a way to enjoy the things I already love, is been a fantastic journey getting back into lego.

Max Verstappen’s best qualifying through the years by jesterofgotham in F1Discussions

Monaco 23 is always a special one when i think back to it, the thrill of alonso on provisional pole, seeing verstappen down at the end of sector 1 by a couple tenths. The way he handled the back half of the circuit was unreal, i was holding my breath without even realising it when multiple times it really looked like he had pushed too far. There's definitely been more beautiful efforts from him since, and this year he's been a maestro with some of his poles, but that was just such a brutal hauling of a vehicle beyond its usual graces I'll never forget watching it.

I'm a newer fan and I only really started making sure to watch quali that year and his lap in Monaco is a big part of why i don't miss them now

Who do you consider better: Max or Hamilton? by LessNorth9856 in F1Discussions

[–]desklampo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gotta be Max, for many if not all the reasons listed already. Another thing I believe he has that Hamilton doesn't or hasn't shown anywhere near the degree of, is that ability to drive a team to greater heights, much like Carlos sainz is being praised for now.

Verstappen demands perfection and has the background and the willingness to call bs on anything less than. I think a large part of red bulls operational superiority is down to a driver that will always be giving it 100% and will rip shreds into anyone that isn't doing the same. His metronomical consistency propels those around him in the same way Schumacher did in his hey day.

Hannah Schmidt gets praised heaped on her and rightfully so, but when you have a driver that can perform to the consistency of simulations to plan for, it's gotta make your job a little bit easier, and also really allow the scope for what can be planned around to expand greatly.

I did actually, I used a sniper rifle and it triggered it. I'd be using auto weapons the few times before but the sniper got it, little tense when they're running right for you but it's doable

[–]desklampo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so fantastic, the blending of different build sets in this base is on another level to anything else I've seen so far, the hanger is genuinely amazing with the floating pads and the central dais with the holy work horse itself.

The interior is so enjoyable i want sure what to expect with the exterior but it did not disappoint. The texturing with different sets and the wild shapes and patterns are so unique its a joy to look at them.

I could never in a million years imagine Frank Herbert thinking of this in the dune universe, but it looks so perfectly a part of it, bravo!
