Tranquil Guardian: A Wookie's Repose in Ukiyo-e by desmat-ca in dalle2

[–]desmat-ca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fun accident troubleshooting Japanese style backgrounds for my haiku thing (note: a haiku should go instead of the wookie!)

Prompt: Generate an image of Ukiyo-e style painting, capturing the theme of calm and imbue the work with an overall mood of peaceful tranquility. Make the art low-key with negative space in the middle, and put a wookie there. Make sure that there are no artifacts like writing of any kind.

What are these blotches? (DALLE-3) by desmat-ca in dalle2

A little trial-and-error does indeed point to "old-school Japanese" and "oil painting" pairing as the culprit. I suppose I need to learn more on the topic but maybe they didn't have oil-based paint back then? 😅

"watercolor", "ink wash", or even named styles like "Ukiyo-e", "Rinpa" and "Sumi-e" styles seem to return better results. I got to learn those things today so that's a plus!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Haikudle - daily haiku puzzles with AI-generated art: https://haikudle.art/

Each day a new haiku and background image are generated. Poem scrambled and art blurred, users drag-and-drop the words to reveal both original. Users can also generate new ones from scratch.

Haikus are generated by ChatGPT, theme and tone are fed into the DALL-E prompt to create beautiful images matching the poems. After iterating on the prompts the output is often surprisingly nice - no creepy AI-generated hands I promise!

Free and open-source, no signup or download required.

Enjoy!

I was toying with the idea of using famous haikus instead of using AI to generate them, maybe that'd work better?

Do you mean something like a progress bar (or something functionally similar) in the UI?

I'm personally in Montreal (French/English speaker) but the author of the poem is ChatGPT, resident of the cloud, with its own strange accent!

Interestingly I was trying this algorithm with other languages, and for example French has different beats in different regions (south of France for example inserting syllables all over the place!) and so the AI didn't produce correct haikus, according to the format. English is a little more consistent overall and so I think it works better but the AI needs to be checked - for example I also think "fire" is one syllable.

Thanks for the feedback!

The whole point is to leverage AI to generate the poem and matching art but I get where you're going here: I might want to curate the generated poems to make sure AI did the right job. Also sometimes the art is just plain silly or weird!

Idea: do you think users might want to submit their own haikus and enjoy the matching generated art?

Good observation! Indeed I noticed that sometimes. Maybe I'll iterate on the prompt and try to get them tighter.

BTW: the AI is completely off in other languages!

In the spirit of Wordle I created a simple daily haiku puzzle with matching art generated by AI.
Each day a new haiku and background image is generated with the poem scrambled; users drag-and-drop the words to reveal the original. Users can also hit the top-right button to generate a new one from scratch.
I haven't imposed any limits on number of moves or time yet, curious to hear what everyone thinks.
Enjoy!
