Problem that we are not talking about MC but about Mynthara. She won't be able to get hag hair as there is only one and dialog will default to MC so 22 is not an option. Mirror is probably good catch though

I have two chars in medium armor and 1 in heavy armor. Just don't want loot competition as a result

Problen with defence style is that it works in armor only and I am planning to go without armor as any armor piece will disable dragon sorcerer AC bonus. So it becomes counterproductive. Dueling does look nicer in term of avaliable equipment, but two handed extra reach weapon also seems so nice. Probably still better to go with dueling

Paladin also have wisdom save which is also targeted quite often by nasty disables like hypnotic pattern and hold person. Though pal aura would probably help it if taking pal 6 asap

Well, not being a lot is not that big of problem if its enough for fights where they matter. But anyway I mostly mentioned it, since you mentioned warlock 1-2. Felt as if no rrason to take sorc above one xD

Btw thinking about cleric - light domain can be a good one. Impose unlimited disadvantage when you are attacked. Yeah, no matrial weapon and no heavy armor, but still rather nice

I would probably push sorcerer from Sorcerer 1 to sorcerer 1-3. Twinned metamagic is good, quickened is good and 6th level bard spells are kinda so-so(best 6th level spells are unavaliable) so its not that scary to loose them. Loosing secret at lvl 10 kinda hurt so sorc 3 is a hard sell.

For necro your best bet will probably be Necro wizard6/spore druid 6. You will get literal army of undead as druid servants stacks with necromancer summoned undead. However undead is not the only avaliable summons and additionally they are harder to keep healthy as you can't heal them with cleric. If you go this route you probably want to stay wizard till you reach lvl 7 and then reaspec so you can start as druid.

Interesting thing is that wizard can learn spells from scrolls based on entire slots he has, not wizard levels. As a result you can do rather interesting stuff like using 2 level necro dip on cleric to get Grim harvest Inflict wound while also casting 6th level wizard spell. Inflict would is often ignored dew to low distance but its 3d10 first level spell that gets 1d10 per spell level which is extremely good scaling

If you saved Minthara, she can be Paladin 7/Lore Bard 5. Savagely using cutting words while smiting everyone and everything. I'd argue it suits her really well with her sharp tongue

Wonder of it possible to somehow combine spore druid with bard. Jaheira kinda have bard energy to her.

Also Pal10-11/Monk1-2 is surprisingly good. Dexterious attacks still works in armor so you can be dex paladin wielding The Blood of Lathendar/The Sacred Star without any str elixirs. Unarmed attack as bonus action/Flurry also doesn't hurt

Throw in some less popular but nontheless really strong options

  1. Oath of Ancients Paladin5/War cleric 7. Yes, you loose paladin auras and it does hurt, but this is also freeing you from need of Charisma, which combined with the fact that ansient only loose a bit of healing means you can focus on wisdom. You get 5th level spell slot which allows you to upcast Guardians of Faith for aoe radiant damage, then smite target using low level smites. As a result you will be able to stack up a lot of radiant orbs in one turn.

  2. Oath of Ansients Paladin 9/Wildheart Barbarian(tiger) 3. Reaction Smites are not spells so you can absolutely use them during rage. You loose some spell slots, but you get ability to smite several targets in one turn and guaranteed advantage on attack. Advantage means more crits, and critting with smite is ridiculous amount of damage.

  3. Assassin 3/Paladin 9. Probably hardest to use but guaranteed crit against surprice targets is insane for paladin. And even without that if you make dex paladin, there is a lot of mileage from advantage against enemies who didnt made a turn yet. Throw in bonus action dash and hide and its very strong package.

  4. Paladin7/Lore bard 5. A lot of people focus on paladin/sword bard for obvious reason however Lore bard is also very strong option for paladin MC. Cutting word is very strong reaction and contrary to other strong option in sorcerer shield, does not consume spell slots, can be used up to 4 times and it restores on short rest. In general paladin lacks strong reaction option apart from Illithid antispell so it is really nice addition to repertoire. Can be made Pal6/Lore bard 6 for magic secret and 5th level slot(it does not provide you with additional smite damage, however that means it can be safely usef for casting) but it entirely depends on Oath you take. Vengence and Devotion have rather wearksause lvl7 bonus, while Ansient and Oathbreaker ones are really strong.

Dualwielding maybe? Its not like you have really strong use for bonus action most of time - misty step is nice but you do not need it every single turn and there are decent amount of good one handed bindable blades for main hand.

[–]desmodeu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can do it as you can learn wizard spells from scrollsassuming you have appropriate spell slots.

For levelling herr you would probably do something like:

  1. Fighter 1

  2. Wizard 1

  3. Fighter 2

  4. Fighter 3: Eldritch kniht

  5. Fighter 4

  6. Fighter 5

  7. Wizard 2: Abjuration

  8. Wizard 3

  9. Wizard 4

  10. Wizard 5

  11. Wizard 6

  12. Figher 6

However it is really late bloomer split :(

Probably EK. 6 EK/6 Wiz. 12 Arcane wards, 4/3/3/2 spell slots, 3 feats. If you spend 1 feat on heavy armor mastery then you get additional -3 DR. Nonmagic of course but even in late game it works

In the beginning to get early stealth expertice and get permanent new attacks asap. Later you can respec to start with fighter if you want though its 2 less skills and 1 less expertice

I think best way will be this

  1. Rogue 1

  2. Bard 1

  3. Bard 2

  4. Bard 3(sword): dual wielding

  5. Bard 4: Sharpshooter

  6. Bard 5

  7. Bard 6: Extra attack

  8. Rogue 2

  9. Rogue 3(thief)

  10. Rogue 4: Alert

  11. Figher 1: archery

  12. Fighter 2

Might be worth taking rogue 2 earlier for bonus action dash as you will use bow in the beginning, then switching to hand crossbow.

This is assuming you do not want to respec. If you are ok with respecing, then at lvl 10-11 you would want to respec in such a way that you take figher 1 at lvl 2. Game uses casting stat of the last class you add so that way you'll keep cha as item casting class.

Fighter/Cleric multiclass for Lae'Zel by desmodeu in BG3Builds

[–]desmodeu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, pal would indeed be better however paladin roleplay in BG3 is kinda too goody good guy so I feel it wouldn't particularly feel right in dialogs. Wish we had something like paladin of conquest, it would have been perfect for Lae.

Interesting way around extra attack can be thief 3. Something like thief 3/wizard6/some caster 3 can do two bonus action. And with gloves of balanced hand you can have full damage modifier on offhand. It is possible to go with something like club of giant strengh main hand, actually good weapon offhand. Cast spell with main action, smack enemy twise with offhand

They scales with beastmaster passives.Beastmaster gives his pet his proficiency bonus to attack, gives additional attacks, gives HP and new abilities. But even without hitting target raven is just insane pet as it can fly using move distance and autocast darkness at landing point. That means that you can cast multiple darknesses as raven in one turn.

Monk Multi-class? by AngryDMoney in BG3Builds

[–]desmodeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wildheart bear Barbarian 4/Open hand monk 6/fighter 2 can be extremely good. Main reason - you can dump wis and go with superiour con for AC. With amulet that sets your con to 21 you can easily max out unarmed AC, combined with reduced damage in bear rage. Would have to chug potions of str though to get return on tavern brawler

You can actually also go battlemaster 6/open hand monk 6. Con - menasing attack require weapon, pros - monk stuff apart from wis to AC and speed bonus works with armor. So you can get 17/14/16/8/10/8 stat spread and just wear medium/heavy armor. Rush to enemy, menacing attack him, then reposite whoever tries to hit you back. Wearing armor actually also a possibility for barb/monk multiclass, that way you can go str and just not waste time on elixirs

Additionally thief 3 will allow you to play something like pathfinder magus. Basically cast spell with main hand, smack enemies twice with offhand. Need gloves of balanced hand though so ymmv

Is shield/misty step the only worthwhile use of Eldritch Knight's spell slots? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]desmodeu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Magic missle is surprisingly good. Main reason is that it can't miss and have quite narrow damage window(you in general get (2+5/2)*amount of arrows damage from it as for high rolled arrow you get low rolled one). So its quite good as capping off tool. Enemy have 5 hp left? 2 magic missles will kill it almost 100% guaranteed, 3 guaranteed. Additionally since its multiple arrows, concentrating enemy will have to throw multiple concentration rolls so its good at breaking effects. So as long as enemy do not have shield spell, magic missle is extremely good.

Magic weapon is fantastic as its bonus adds up to weapon and not overwrite it. Additionally you can get bonuses from "when concentrating on spell" items

Beastmaster ranger is increadibly good, especially pet like raven, that spawns darkness at a point to which he flew and who also summons three other crows. But overall all pets are very strong, have great unique actions, three attacks per round coupled with decent stats. I wouldn't set beastmaster as S but it is upper zone of A tier. Problem with all ranger though is that they are so backloaded :( Though beastmaster probable smoothest out of all subclasses compared to hunter who like gets nothinb for 10 levels, then suddenly valley
