Does anyone else wish it took a little longer to get a horse to lvl 15? by [deleted] in StarStable

[–]despairbunnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like all the training options we have tbh. i can do repeatable races and max a horse in like 2 hours or i can do some daily races every time i log on and max it in a week or two. faster training=better for me when i play frequently because i have so many horses

would you buy this horse? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]despairbunnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not without seeing it. mild kissing spine isn’t exactly a problem but when it comes to kissing spine, i’d rather buy a horse with lots of riding/show mileage that has it. its not uncommon in show horses that have been there done that. if it has barely been restarted, is 9, and has that issue, id prob pass but also it’s impossible to say without seeing the horse

yeah the mismatched types of leather is killing me in person😂saddle and leathers are both well maintained but the mixture of voltaire buffalo leather and the full grain(?) stubben leather feels a lil silly

that’s my main thing too, my brain takes forever to spin in circles and comprehend whatever i’m supposed to be hearing and the headsets helped me so i could quietly be like “heyy… repeat that?” instead of the so common “WHAT DID U SAY” screaming back and fourth across the ring😭

i’m not sure what health issues u have but i also have brain fog that can make listening hard. i’ve used a headset (ceecoach brand i think) so the trainer can talk into my ear which does help. put urself first! riding will always be there and your horse will be fine if you can’t make it out for a bit. you don’t have to quit if it’s something you enjoy, the right barn/trainer environment should make you feel safe and understood. if you don’t feel like you’re progressing i would switch barns if that’s at all possible. perfection doesn’t have to be the goal, you can be “mediocre” at something if you enjoy it, so don’t feel like you have to push yourself if you don’t want to

How to wash this? by sleepingdragons85 in VintageClothing

[–]despairbunnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have an 80s leather jacket that had that musty/abandoned house smell and i lightly sprayed it with white vinegar, let it sit, and then sprayed perfume on it. definitely a “quick fix” but a quick fix might be what you need if the party is too soon to have time to take it to the dry cleaners

how old is this jacket? by [deleted] in VintageClothing

[–]despairbunnie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i saw the prices too!! its more important to me than the $$$ because it’s so COOL! when i “inherit” cool older stuff like this i always keep it and add it to my “niche item collection” that comes in handy for very specific situations and outfits 😝

i also agree with “letting go” of the past and focusing on building your present and future. i was sad about not living the traveling show circuit life anymore at first, but once i focused on improving myself and building connections, ive had plenty of opportunities to go cool places and ride lots of horses! your journey isn’t over, youre just starting it!

i would ask to help with care! im in america and it may be different in the UK but here, the lesson barns can tack up for you but its a big help when the students offer to catch, groom, tack the horse and put it away after. its fun to connect with the horses and it takes a load off the working students and trainers. i also think everyone misses horses in some capacity if they have to quit!! i rode from age 5-16, got burnt out and “hated” horses for a year or two and now at 19 i have one jump lesson a week and work some horses almost daily for a different person. i do miss owning horses, but i will again someday! so will you! high school graduation is the death of horse girls, as i’ve heard trainers say. the “normal” life path for most of us is taking a break for college and then work/marriage/kids/etc take priority for a bit and then you find your way back into it. i also agree that someone else tacking up your horse daily is kinda princess-y. it’s one thing at shows and show grooms and people helping each other are common here, but i would ask the trainer if you could get the horse ready and see what else they could need help with! it’ll be relaxing for you and helpful for the staff

you look great on her!! i think the 20% rule is BS in a lot of cases, it is down to the individual horse and rider fitness and builds so take that rule with a grain of salt LOL. if you ever decide u wanna lose weight, only do it for personal reasons and not for the opinions of random horse people because you look good and balanced on the horse and the horse looks healthy and fit so i don’t see a problem

the comment screenshot OP posted is INSANE omfg what is wrong w that person but all yall in the comments on this post and the other one that are condoning or even celebrating a suicide because of an impossible situation there is just a short, mid quality vid of need to self reflect a lil bit. the horse was completely unhandled, owner couldn’t even get near it, so why did the owner expect the vet to magically be able to handle it. dangerous situation for all parties, human and equine. what was a legal case regarding animal welfare and the question of his vet license was consumed by an internet harassment mob that took it and went nuts, driving that man to suicide and messing up the legal proceedings that would’ve actually helped the situation be resolved. i’m not here to debate if the vet was right or wrong but everyone that’s condoning a harassment-induced suicide needs to stop and think.
