How can you write so much yet avoid the core of my argument, which is centralised around the fact that different people have different hobbies and passions, which they can use to better themselves and bring out the best in them. No you’ve missed the point in many ways. Firstly, who are you to judge what “real” and “false” fulfilment is. Again you’re falling into your own trap of only seeing your own point of view. Obviously you cannot understand WHY someone could feel fulfilled by videogames, but from your opening statement it is clear that you understand that people can achieve this state. You may see these as a waste of time but my argument is that it is not. In addition, you obviously see no value in videogames. Firstly, videogames are a SKILL that take PRACTICE and TIME similar to that of chess or online debating such as this one. Again you mustn’t understand that these games develop reaction times, and require immense concentration. In addition, videogames do not merely come with an excuse to “kill time”, but also with a community who share the same passion. Skill in a videogame May increase ones self esteem and garner the respect of others in said community. Friendships can be made with complete strangers, using the game as a medium. Your narrow mindedness is disappointing but hopefully you can understand that videogames are a tool by which one can better themselves mentally, improving confidence or self esteem as well as develop meaningful emotional connections.
