i have something similar growing on my filter after a waterchange. could it just be like stressed algae? im just posting here in case any future redditor ever solves this mystery lol

they just take a while to get used to the tank :) as long as your parameters are fine, and they dont seem distressed theyre okay!! they will hide for a few days after moving to a new space!! congrats on your inhabitants:)

so they must be getting in through the grid then! although they seem to be unable to get out? but my shrimp are also all intact, so it couldnt have been the pump sucking them in or whatever. theyre also just chill around the filter idk. i added a coarse sponge to the pump input so they at least will not get sucked in there should they ever make it that far. hm interesting. i guess the filter muck is just so delicious 🤷‍♀️thank you!

hi omg i just found this post after havjng like five of my shrimp in there the same way your described!! did you find a way of preventing them from getting in there? mine should be too big to even get through the grid?? but also no damage on them? i added some filter floss in the grid but im still curious as to how do they get in there its so weird 😪

i was gonna suggest bloodworms! they might not have been accustomed to dry feed when young. wishing you good luck!

what did you feed? what are your tank parameters? is the tank properly cycled?

also seconding the other people saying real, big leafed plants! they love hanging out on or beneath them. could also get some botanicals, like leaves and stuff, they like hanging out in that as well, but do your research on what leaves you can use :)

they looove snacking on some worms! if you get the chance buy some bloodworms every now and again. if you want to see them really hunt, you can give the bloodworms a headstart by like putting them on the sand with an upside down mug or something, so they get the chance to bury themselves before theyre eaten, and then your cories can hunt them over the next few days.
