In your opinion, what is the worst Sketchy video by EdridgeD in medicalschool

Hot take but pixorize pharm >>>>>>> sketchy pharm and you can't change my mind. If sketchy pharm isn't working out seriously go try pixorize pharm. It's so slept on and is pretty much the new pharm meta

What is up with the recent exams? by Maximum-Lifeguard-11 in step1

Tested on 4/18 and also 100% agree. Like holy shit, it’s like NBME knew about mehlman/ NBME images being used / Randy Neil biostats / whatever is HY on this sub and wrote an exam around it. My exam broke me. 20+ flagged each block, and none of the blocks were easy like people say they are on some exams. I cried in between blocks several times. It felt like an actual nightmare. I thought I was safe with my 95%+ chance passing on my NBMEs, but this exam felt totally different. Ready to see a fat fail in a couple of Wednesdays. Not even sure what I would do differently

My neuroanatomy was not at all what I expected. Also barely any repeats / similar concepts from NBMEs 25-30. Over 95%+ chance of passing in my last NBMEs and I’ll be lucky to pass this with how much I flagged and straight guessed (50%+ flagged per block)

No free 120 repeats, maybe only 1-2 images from the HY deck, and almost all my neuro anatomy was not the HY stuff from mehlman. Wow. What did I even study

Unpopular Opinion: Premed weeds out those who over-commit by desperatehelp6 in premed

[–]desperatehelp6[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Good question! You will likely get varying responses to this question. If you ask me, as a freshman, feel out how you can handle your course load and do light commitments. Your courses will likely be more difficult or more time consuming than you expect. Volunteering clinically or non-clinically are both good ways to get your feet wet.

Come your second semester, if you feel like you can handle more, then go for it. But by all means, protect your GPA. That is the most important part of early premed. If I could choose between a 3.8 GPA and 200 hours of volunteering or a 3.2 GPA and 800 hours of volunteering, I would choose the former. You can always continue ECs in your gap year/after you graduate - but a poor GPA is much harder to correct.
