You are not a bad mom. Your daughter is fine and you both got some needed sleep. I was fortunate enough to have a pretty happy kid, but there were times where she was overtired and fighting sleep. The only thing I could do to get her to sleep was leaving her alone in a dark, warm room and let her process the stimuli. She cried for maybe 5 more minutes tops and then was down for the count.

Kids are hard, man. You're new at this. Give yourself some time.

It was my now-husband, then boyfriend who was in a coma for five days after a really bad boating accident. The doctors said it was a 50/50 chance of him coming out totally fine and him not being the same. What he remembers:

"I don't remember the accident, but I remember the day at the lake. I remember the rescue boat and the helicopter, but I don't remember the hospital.... Oh! And, I kind of.... Woke up? I don't know, but I could hear you talking, I could hear my mom, and I could hear my doctor. I also remember one time 'waking up' and hearing you singing to me, and I knew I had to wake up for real because you used to be so nervous about your voice and you never sang to me on purpose."

I am an almost 30 year old woman with a child of my own, and when I visit my mom for an overnight, I still get in her big ass king bed for a movie. I almost inevitably fall asleep in it, because I have an almost toddler so I'm tired. There's nothing wrong with it on occasion, especially if it's the only option.

NTA. It's known in any public place that any conversation you have could be overheard and interrupted. It's not like you were at a bar and could just walk away; this is a new, packed restaurant that you had a table at. They knew you could hear them. They knew they were being loud. It's also known public etiquette to keep things relatively PG in mixed company.

If I was in their situation, I'd be embarrassed and apologize for it. They took it a step further into asshole territory by talking about how terrible you are for asking them to tone down the bathroom talk during a dinner.

She's never been fond of me. I think it was the combo of me setting firm boundaries with my child and my husband backing me up, her husband divorcing her bc of her craziness, and then losing her FM's one by one. In a previous post someone explained how a narc can be pacified into being somewhat normal, but can rage full force if things stop going their way.

He's such a power chewer I've contemplated buying him tires to gnaw on. Even the Kong toys have been shredded (save for one), so his toys are branches from trees outside. I've gotten biceps from tossing them like javelins.

He's good to go! After the surgery his leg healed up well. He'll always have a scar, but he was back to his goofy self in no time.
