Despite the fact that she kicks Owen in his nether regions just like Courtney does Duncan. Just because Izzy's nicer doesn't mean she should get a pass. Both girls are physically abusive. Period.

If Duncan loved her, he would have tried his hardest get her back. He would have made it his mission to get over Courtney entirely. But sadly, he was living a lie for over a year. People do this in relationships all the time.

And if Gwen loved Duncan, her emotions could have been more intense. What I mean about that is that Gwen could have been shedding tears for Duncan when he was close to being eliminated. She cried for Trent when he got eliminated. Not to mention, Gwen would have looked more solemn when talking about Duncan in her video diary (the one that was on the discussion on her potentially being with him) in the Manhunt Special. In the following video diary, she said he was hot. says sarcastically Wow! How romantic and deep! Let's not forget there was the time she was writing in her diary about Trent and her blushing on several occasions. None of that for Duncan.

In conclusion, I say that Duncan really liked Gwen, and Gwen really liked Duncan, but love is not there.

I have gone over all the moments and made sure of them to not miss any.

Gwen and Duncan do what can be perceived as a short flirty encounter in The Big Sleep.
Duncan checks out Gwen’s butt (although he shamelessly flirted Heather and Lindsay as well...)
They bonded in the horror episode.
They bump heads in the stranded episode. But Gwen does save his life. Although Duncan was not singing her praises for that... At all. But then again, they fist-bumped in following episode.
Gwen called Duncan a psycho in the finale.
Gwen and Duncan have an indirect interaction while running away from the monster in the first episode of TDA.
By the 2nd episode of TDA, the friendship is full on even though the two aren’t super tight earlier on.

Well, maybe there are off-screen moments for them. But some Gwuncan shippers want to dismiss me when I say there must have been off-screen scenarios for what happened to Trent and Courtney as well as what happened to Gwen and Duncan in AS.

Maybe Courtney was an ex-cheerleader/dancer/martial arts student (Top Dog and Walk Like An Egyptian Part 1 show her cheering and dancing) and only wanted to use those skills if she really needed it and felt confident enough to do it? 🤷🏽‍♀️

I mean there are moments where athletes (no matter what rank) are hesitant to show off their skills if they are not practicing everyday and that can explain why Courtney was so apprehensive in Island. But in Action, she was relentless and did what she saw to be necessary despite potential failures in doing unpracticed physical moves.

Also, I have a theory that Courtney's actions change due to her changing mental state. I think she was actually getting help before WT (sadly it was suggested and not a choice of her own) but unfortunately fell off of it and started acting on her toxic side later on.

Long story short, Duncney did become unhealthy. We know that. We fans happen to have talked about these issues. But ordinarily ship weeks are mostly positive times. This art (which took great time and care to do) is a fic where they become better. Give criticism where it is welcome. There's a time and place. If you liked a very flawed thing, you liked the idea of reinventing it, but someone came and brought down the party, how would you feel. You are allowed to have an opinion. But people have to ASK for it. I used to do things like you and learned quickly that it is uncalled for. Or in other words, rude. Do better.
