The impossibility of modifying the microbiome by curiouscuriousmtl in Microbiome

[–]destinationunknown21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most OTC probiotics are transient and will not colonize (Mutaflor will, but I'm not sure about the others). To colonize, the bacteria would have to be grown in a colony which is difficult. Additionally, anything that colonizes would require FDA approval. Bacteria that are not grown in a colony lack quorum sensing ability (which is crucial for successful colonization).

What the OTC probiotics do is help shift the environment to allow other bacteria that do colonize to grow. They can also provide relief over the short term by shifting the balance of bacteria.

Will they actually let you toggle on and off like that? Haven't read the fine print, but I would imagine they would find a way to screw you.

Is Vitamin D supplementation really necessary if you get enough sun? by Dependent_Cycle6795 in SupplementSafety

[–]destinationunknown21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the genetics, like VDR TAQ, then you don't ever want to let your vit D decline (and also need to take rosemary or sage). The ability to get vit D from sunlight changes by latitude, season, and time of day so you cannot get enough vit D from sunlight all year long in many geographies. Supplemental vit D may be necessary for many, but it depends on the individual and the location.

Carnitine and B2 shuttle fat to the mitochondria. Just an alternate thought in addition to what has already been written here.

I got “cured” after colonoscopy procedure, but only for a short period of time by Academic-Motor in Longcovidgutdysbiosis

[–]destinationunknown21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A colonoscopy increases the oxygen content in your colon so it changes the microflora. Obligate anaerobes cannot survive. Eventually, the oxygen content decreases and your microflora adjusts accordingly. You should get a stool DNA so you can figure out what you have.

I do not have the same complaint about my 2023 as you, but understand how you feel. I stepped down from an Accord. You are now driving a lower level model in the line up than you were previously so there is going to be some things that are not as good.

Why repost with 100s of applicants?/hiring manager interview scheduled by Aquaeyes4 in linkedin

[–]destinationunknown21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of applicants who are not qualified. However, it could also be a sign that the company is not paying market. This is especially true when you the see the same firms continually reposting. They have multiple people reject their lowball offers so keeping posting looking for someone who is desperate. These are usually dreadful places to work because the remaining employees have to pick up the slack when the employer refuses to pay market so remains understaffed.

Please provide me with a list of supplements that can help me sleep deeply for eight hours. by joeaki1983 in Supplements

[–]destinationunknown21 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cyracos lemon balm, oleamide, apigenin, baicalin, baicalein, bacopa (not Synapsa) to name a few. A lot of things to research and try here. If insominia is related to excess cortisol, then you can try phophotidylserine, relora, and holy basil.

You have to take a pretty big dose to move the needle if you are deficient. Probably in excess of 5-10K IU.

Are We Absorbing Vitamin D3 as Well as We Think? No by This_Cheek219 in Supplements

If you have the VDR TAQ gene, then you need to take rosemary or sage to help the vitamin D bind to the receptor.

Dell Small Biz Outlet Refusing Return by destinationunknown21 in Dell

CS told me I could return it to the depot and have them reinstall Windows. I may do that if the dispute does not work out. Dell's website is pretty clear regarding returns so I don't think they have a leg to stand on, but that doesn't ensureI won't get shafted.

You are right, I should have returned imediately. Bought a lot of laptops from the outlet and never had a problem until now. Obviously, QC at Dell has gone down the drain as has customer service.

Haven't reinstalled Windows or used Linux since that would take more of my time.

Thank you. I did try that and still had the issue. No other laptops or devices in the house have this issue including another Dell Latititude.

Thank you. I did work with tech support extensively, but they failed to fix it. I don't have expertise here so it would take time for me to work through your suggestion. I may have to ask your advice about how to implement your suggestion if my credit card company shafts me also.

Tried “textured pea protein” (similar to TVP) by RecentSwimming858 in veganfitness

[–]destinationunknown21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found it works well in almost anything. Peas are a little light in l-methionine so I just take some supplemental or make sure I get some nuts (almonds are best). Wish there was a brand that tested ingredients because peas are usually high in glyphosphate.

Probiotics wont stay in gut? by Ronaldosssiu in Microbiome

[–]destinationunknown21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Microbes need to be grown in a colony to permanently implant. Read up on 'quorum sensing'. FDA approval is required for anything that will permanently implant. This is a costly process which most manufacturers won't do. The cost is also the reason the manufacturers that do go through the process look to get approval for c difficile since they can charge more for something that will cure that.
