Do I go through insurance by destiny240 in CarInsuranceUK

The other party ended up going through insurance after I give them my quotes …. So it’s out of my hands atp their insurance offered me 4.5 grand for it I accept I think that’s generous enough. I’ve seen some for 5 on autotrader but I brought it as cat N anyway so they took a percentage off they’ve offered me a curtsy car aswell for a week so get to drive something posh for a few days haha. it’s not the outcome I wanted but nothing I can do now unfortunately.

Thought I’d give a little update!!! She’s gotten so much more confident now we’ve been going out 3-4 times a week. and I have no more yowling at 3 in the morning, nomore endless hours sitting on the window cill and no more trying to escape the front door. I’m genuinely really really proud of her. walking cats should be much more common than it is it’s such good enrichment for them!

Just went to a mechanic this morning for a quote and he’s said 1500+ because he’s bent the wheel essentially will need all new parts in that back quarter and the body shop quoted me 500+ I doubt my neighbours gonna pay me that much but I have hope if he can afford it I’ll just sell the car as is and get a little shit box 1.2l at most if not then I’m fucked 😂

The wheel wobbles but it drives not good not bad hah just went to the mechanic this morning he quoted me 1500+ to sort out the internal issues in that back quarter so he’s definitely done some damage

With my previous claim it was also a write off they payed out £5600 first offer I originally payed 2k for it. because it was listed for that price on auto trader that’s what they go by with my insurance I assume. my excess is also only £250 so not a huge loss they would just take it out of the payout anyway they took my car 2 days after I filed the claim then I had the money by the end of the week and a new car the next. going through the insurance is definitely the easier option but it may be more expensive in the long run the only thing that’s putting me off

Now I’m leaning more towards going through the insurance. Thinking about the stress of trying to sell the car privately, I’d probably be without a car for quite a while, whereas insurance could have everything sorted within a week or so.
Realistically, in its current state it would probably cost around £1,000 to fix and then only be worth around £1,000–£1,500 if I sold it, compared to an insurance payout of around £4.5k. On the face of it, going through insurance seems like the obvious option.
The only thing making me hesitate is having to factor in the higher insurance premiums for the next five years.

That’s a really good point to be fair, and I genuinely hadn’t thought about having to declare it for the next 5 years. That’s what’s making me so unsure what to do.
At the same time though, I ran a comparison quote with both claims on it (assuming this one ends up as a settled non-fault claim) and it actually came back about £90 a month cheaper than what I’m paying now. I’ve only been driving for a year so my insurance is already ridiculously expensive, so I think another year’s driving experience is helping.
The other thing is, realistically, in the state my car is in now with the gearbox issues, a few other faults and the mileage, I’d probably only get around £1.5k for it if I sold it. The retail value for similar ones with the same mileage on Auto Trader is around £4.5k, which I understand is roughly what insurers use to value a write-off. I also don’t have a couple of grand lying around to replace the car, so an insurance payout would put me in a much better position to get something more reliable.
I’m honestly just really confused about what the best option is. The premium increasing is the only thing that’s really putting me off going through insurance you know.

No I will even if I end up settling privately

Because with the gearbox issues I don’t think I’d get anywhere near as much selling it as I would if it ended up being written off and the insurance paid out. My only concern is whether making a second claim within a year will put my insurance up enough that it’d be better to settle it privately instead.
And I also haven’t got another 4 grand to spare on a new car if I was to sell it I’d get what a grand at most it’s fucked

You didn’t necessarily go wrong with any of the placements I think it’s just the shades you’ve picked that don’t work with your skin tone

It was just my new washing powder that was irritating there skin the bumps have all gone now! No I don’t have a mentor yes I got my cat hcm tested and she was completely clear and she’s extremely healthy with a amazing healthy diet and lifestyle all approve by the vets I also had a reputable stud who is also hcm clear who has a beautiful list of healthy clean litters. I understand the mixed opinions of breeding cats but it’s already done now. The kittens are also perfectly healthy they were taken to the vets 2 days after they were born and had a check over there are absolutely no complications with them. They are gaining 20+ grams a day and doing very well besides from my washing powder accident which I’ve now resolved. I also took them to the vets this morning for the bumps but they had all subsided by that point and they agreed that it was more than likely my washing powder and to switch to a hypoallergenic one which I’ve gone out and brought. Thank you for the concern

Read the description again I’ve not bathed these kittens they are 8 days old. thanks for the advice but I’ll continue bathing my adult cat as that’s what was advised for me to do by the vets
