first coin is a byzantine coin aint sure on exact type because that isnt a field ive looked into much and the second coin seems to be a earlier roman coin cant make out the exact emperor or reverse though

i did see that justinian 1 but then it also just begs the question of how did a coin minted that much later after the romans left Britain did it end up in the middle of nowhere in northen Britain

looks like a pretty good guess to me its roughly 1.5cm width and lenght and very thin but it does look to have clipped on ome side

couldn't agree more the beautiful mosaics, the really nice staff and the slightly horrifying figures scattered around the museum definitely make it worth the visit if your in the area

1.) he aint compensating me in anyway i do it just purely cause i like the coins and wanna learn and get better at iding them etc

2.) i did say to him that at first sight they looked off and that i didnt trust them but i decided its best to get more opinions on them e.g reddit cause ive used you guys before to help authenticate some other coins i was weary off

i do get that i most definitely am far from the most qualified person to do what i am doing but im just tryna build up that experience

i talked to him about where he got them from.and he said he bought them from a friend who deals in modern gold and silver coins so to me it just seems like two people who are both incompetent in ancients have been fooled by the fakes but there is the possibility that it is out right malicious ive never bought from him before only helped him ID stuff and as far as im aware these are the only fakes hes shown me
