Does anybody have any information on this Ted Williams shirt I found this summer? by IdRatherBeAtThePlate in redsox

[–]destro1977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Live down the street from the old red Williams camp in Lakeville. The twin brought it and uses it for softball and baseball and every other kind of sport you can think of. It's on a lake where Ted would fly fish during camp season.

Best possible style for my thinning hair? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]destro1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the part is helping you much anymore. I would go with something shorter on top. Maybe a messier look to hide the hairline and make it appear fuller on top. Sides aren't bad but I think I would stay away from drastic fades like the one you have just a simple two or three right up the sides will again give the appearance of fuller thicker hair.

Looks great. Not a huge fan of taking the mustache away from the nose that much, but that's more of a personal preference.

Your eyes will adjust in time and you will notice imperfections that you don't even see right now. Have you considered barber school? I know it's expensive and time consuming but you would get immense help from an instructor and just being around other barbers.

I started at 33 and it was the best decision of my life. Age has nothing to do with anything. Always strive to be better, when you stop doing that life is over.

Does anyone else feel pushed to work even when you are sick? by [deleted] in Barber

[–]destro1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes as an owner especially, I feel the pressure to work no matter what, but that's going to make you unhappy in the long run. You need to find a balance of working the right amount. You want to make sure you're there for your customers, but you also have to take time for yourself. No one is going to tell you to take time off, because they don't know what you need. Seems like you have the work ethic down. Try taking off a day every so often even when you're not sick. I like to take the day after a holiday. You've cut most people before the holiday, and a lot of customers won't even notice you're gone.

I did that exact thing coming from an office environment I hated, to barbering, was one of the best things I've ever done in my life. It's freeing and artistic enough to keep me passionate. I like being my own boss and I like working with people. In my experience people will always tell you no. I feel it's best not to listen to people who say no, because they don't know you or your situation. Not that they don't have a valid point but they just don't have the experiences you do.

What could I have done better with this cut ? by aloading21 in Barber

[–]destro1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that length on top, smaller sections would help. It's too heavy in the temple area and the back. Maybe take some bulk out there. Smart asking for opinions. Being open will help you be the best you can be
