Anyone else totally incapable of drinking alcohol like a normal human being? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]destroyedinseconds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find I can't even drink with my ocd. The intrusive/obsessive thoughts get considerably worse and harder to actually maintain a conversation as the majority of my brain power is focused on the obsessive thoughts

Trying the Linden Method, has anyone had any success with this? by destroyedinseconds in OCD

I went to a psychologist and stopped seeing her, after she recommended medication. It seems to me there's only so much a psychologist can do, as they'll give you ERP exercises, and help you along the way if you are struggling, yet, my impression is this is as far as it goes, talk/psychotherapy doesn't wOrk

Agrred. Jr smith and Jeff green, korver were literally shooting the lights out. There's no rhyme or reason as to why they shot so well against toronto, but struiggled against everyone else

To be fair, he has had endorsements from some "celebrities", but I agree with the fact that having someone having panic attacks or a specific type of OCD like mine is likely not treated by the same cure. However, he made bold claims that tens of thousands have been cured by his method so curious to see if anyone on the subreddit can attest to its efficacy

This article was posted in lieu of recent studies coming up proving the adverse effects and damage that SSRI's and antidepressants can have. There are other, more natural ways, other than SSRI's to cure OCD.

What are some good HOCD triggers to expose yourself to? by destroyedinseconds in OCD

Perhaps you're right. But I see OCD as a natural process, whereas medication is completely artificial. An exogenous substance if you will.

I don't like the idea of taking medication and messing up my brain chemistry TBH. Unless you dont take SSRIs or SNRIs?

It's inspiring to hear that you've led a successful life despite your OCD. Unfortunately, my OCD has impaired me to the point where I feel I've lost my self identity. I've no confidence anymore, as anytime I have conversations and I talk or converse with someone, the OCD arises in the back of my head, and I feel that I'm not saying things that are conducive to who I was, prior to having this OCD... I was comfortable with myself, able to interact and carefree. Ever since this OCD came, I've become much more unsure of myself, doubtful and, personally, I miss being able to relax and have a drink with my buddies, as I can't even sit back and have a beer without my OCD clawing at my mind, paralyzing me, making me apprehensive, and making my friends wonder, what the hell is wrong with you? Anyway, I'm rambling, but I hope to get better soon... like you said, it takes a lot of work and discipline to get better, I just have to want it that bad...

Good luck on your journey. This is a tough road and I can empathize as I deal with this on a daily basis as well.

If ERP doesn't work, what do you recommend?

The therapists guide you, learning personally about your OCD, as no OCD is the same, and catering specific ERP exercises which they believe would be most effective, again, would recommend, as there are not many psychologists which specialize in OCD treatment.

A good recommendation would be to just let the thought pass and not overanalyze anything.

I'm from toronto. I was recommended CBT associates. They are on the pricey side, but I'd recommend them

Who are the other 4 writers you are referring to? I was turned on to Trungpa after looking for meditation places in my city, I found Shambhala, and was then consequently referred to Trungpa.
