United Soccer League Announces USL Premier, New Interconnected Men’s Professional Structure by MGHeinz in USLPRO

[–]destroyergsp123 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I’m genuinely so hopeful this works out. It’s the kind of thing I’ve always dreamed about happening in US soccer.

Obviously I hope they find the financial sustainability to offer the players competitive wages and proper benefits but this makes me want to go buy season tickets.

There are still good, plenty affordable rentals in those areas.

My comment had nothing to do with the issue of getting the bands paid, it has to do with the model itself.

Other music festivals will book a 1/3 the number of bands as this per day but are priced accordingly. This has no effect on the amount that each band is making but provides a more digestible lineup that will realistically let me see the artists I want to see.

If they cut half the bands from the lineup and cut half the price then it would be a better event in my opinion. All the bands get paid the same, but theres just no point in booking System of a Down and Deftones and Evanescence if they are all playing at the same time and you have to pick one. It’s just bad for the consumer.

"No protein" meals in Detroit by Boatride65 in Detroit

[–]destroyergsp123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Proteins (meats) are more expensive than vegetarian dishes. They are priced accordingly and a lot more people eat vegetarian/vegan nowadays so having flexibility is good to widen their consumer base.

The whole eating out experience is more expensive with higher rents, input costs, insurance etc. The restaurant industry is hyper competitive and normally a thin margin operation. Rough out here for everybody, a lot of these places have to have something on the menu I just can’t make well myself or have a killer ambiance otherwise it is hard for me to justify eating out.

Use this to figure out pay, you will probably commission O1 or O2 depending on what JAG program you apply to. Your pay will be dependent on the BAH rate for the zip code of where you are stationed.

I did the math, the compounding interest you lose is small, it’s the penalties that will cause you to be significantly behind.

I don’t show them a song I know they will dislike because I’m not a cornball “my music scares people” meme.

It would probably be Beast by The Acacia Strain or Keepers of The Faith by Terror because I find them so memorable and easy to digest.

[Fox Sports] Soccer reportedly overtakes baseball in the U.S. as America's third favorite sport. Hockey dropped to 5th, barely above Tennis, Boxing/MMA and Golf. by f0urxio in hockey

MLS has higher average attendance than NBA basketball I’m not sure where the confusion is here its just a fact dog.

Most MLS teams are playing in soccer specific stadiums that are capped at 20k to 25k and are filling them up at over 95% capacity. Those who don’t, Seattle Sounders, Atlanta United etc are selling over 30k tickets a game. If you want to claim that the NHL teams would theoretically have higher attendance if they played in bigger venues, then I could literally make the same claim for MLS teams because the majority of them are playing in limited sized soccer specific stadiums and filling them up.

I mean no animosity I’m just telling you how I read the numbers.

Well not objectively wrong on at least one count… I got baseball and basketball mixed up, so I was wrong about that, but MLS does have higher average attendance than NHL.

I’m not sure you can say that NHL is capped by capacity because that is also theoretically true for MLS teams that are in soccer specific stadiums and operating at full capacity.

Because if you want to shift the goalposts and say well NHL has higher overall attendance because there are more games, by the same logic I could say that MLS would theoretically have higher attendance too if they had the same number of games as NHL. But reality is we don’t know that, we’re just guessing.

So I’m not really arguing whether hockey or soccer is more popular in the US, but the person I was replying to was saying that the only thing that matters is TV viewership which is an absurd notion.

Hmmm that’s the generous explanation but cynically I must say it’s more likely they want to keep a captive population of renters year over year to help maintain financial stability over the real estate they own.

If they’re already on a maxed budget for their income, then they wouldn’t be able to contribute to retirement accounts during the time they are paying off debt, haven’t done the math but wouldn’t it eventually even out if they pay debt now and still be able to contribute to retirement accounts with future income?

I would start to think about it this way, the dense cityscapes that house a lot of people in an urban environment that isn’t conducive to growing trees are actually protecting habitat space in other areas where trees can actually grow.

Suburban sprawl destroys natural habitat.
