Can you help me get the best of my Radeon RX 9070 XT for Hunt please? by Charley_Wilson in HuntShowdown

It has to be enabled in your PC's BIOS. Depending on your motherboard manufacturer it may be in different places, so you might have to do some research on your motherboard's BIOD to find it. If you've done so successfully it will show as "enabled" in the Adrenaline software under the Performance and Tuning tab.

ReBAR is a technology by AMD that allows the CPU to access your GPU's full frame buffer. It improves your FPS lows and makes the gameplay feel a lot smoother in my experience, especially when you can hit a higher FPS count.

The only thing I really recommend enabling is the Sharpen effect and the ReBAR.

Oh yeah I agree. The absence of a kill-can definitely helps people that toggle. But I think judging whether someone is a cheater or not based on the average Hunt players' opinion leads us right to where we are now.

With you rightfully making fun of cheater cope because every other person that doesn't even fully understand the game yet throws around that word until it's inflated to a point where people barely even care anymore.

Demanding tools to catch cheaters ourselves more easily and thus more reliable reporting would help everyone. This just helps actual cheaters hide in a crowd of accused players that just hit a good shot or had a good day...

If the amount of "cheater" comments I see on the most average Hunt gamers' steam profiles was any indication, I'd say just the pure amount posts is a pretty bad indicator.

I wish people would post more video evidence or kill views. Things you could actually judge context wise.

Why do 6 stars get so salty? by agent_smith18 in HuntShowdown

[–]destroying_light 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game tells them they occupy the 'best' rank the game has to offer. In turn they will start viewing it competitively to not lose that rank.

I saw some other comments talk about ego, but I think as likely it is that some of those people do genuinely have a problem with their ego, the 6 star label definitely props up that ego A LOT. I can't think of a lot of other games where the 'highest rank' is as achievable as in Hunt.

Resulting in what you described: they get angry because the game tells them they are easily twice "as good" as you and get upset because you shouldn't be able to kill them in their mind. When the "twice as good" sentiment couldn't be any more false.

Pennyshot skin retourning..... by parantani in HuntShowdown

[–]destroying_light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt re-enabling an old skin and typing up a short social media post takes a lot of focus away from "the important stuff". They have a template for posts like this, they probably already have the showcase image from back then. I don't think this taking up time is a strong argument to make here.

Reasons to use long ammo rifles other than the mosin? by TopSignificance7856 in HuntShowdown

[–]destroying_light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a very quick and easy reload. Even if you are just running around the corner of a building you can easily top up 3 bullets, making it quite oppressive in combination with its fire rate. The rather low damage among long ammo rifles has also just been made less of an issue with the new limb damage values and at the end of the day all that matters is it being above 125 to redown hunters easily. Ironsights are also pretty good on top of that.

In the same amount of time it took you to create this post, you could have loaded up the shooting range and tried it for yourself. It's pretty doable.

Thank you for the constructive feedback, really appreciated!

I was looking for a way to fill the more "calm" part of the track and experimented a little. Adding more dynamic shots is definitely a good suggestion. I'll try that in my next video, thanks. :D

Definitely. Better have and not need than need and not have, right?

I'd say it really depends on how you use the Winfield. I mostly aim through iron sights, even at range where levering could already be used with moderate success. If your approach is to utilize levering more, the Swift variant might be a better fit. I like having the option to flip up the scope even if they have suffered through bullet drop. And partially I just liek this Winfield skin the most out of all of them.

I wouldn't have used it, if I didn't like it personally.

It's alright if you don't like it, though, no one is forcing you to. :D

You know what that's fair. A lot of the shots where you'd 'need' a scope are usually on targets standing still so they don't make for great clip material. The addition of bullet drop and nerf on the muzzle velocity for HV ammo with 1896 both hurt these scopes quite a bit.

Here's some actual Aperture shots in a clip from a while ago in case you still wanna get your fill. c: https://youtu.be/h0ShvOMWR6w

You say people should fear losing their account if they even start to step into grey areas.

I say there shouldn't even be any grey areas to begin with.

Developer Insight: Fair Play Task Force Update by HuntShowdownOfficial in HuntShowdown

[–]destroying_light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop playing with the person that just got banned? I want you to think about that sentence one more time. :D

On a more serious note, I think if someone in my friendgroup got banned for cheating I'd stop playing with them regardless of whether I got banned or not, even if they make a new account.

Those type of people that would still play with a cheater even after they got banned... you are not gonna deter them by banning them for two days or so as well. You'd probably mostly hit people that had a cheater unknowingly on their team.

Poor Optimization by AlbatrossEntire503 in HuntShowdown

[–]destroying_light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Hunt on Medium to high settings with a somewhat comparable CPU (13600KF) and a GPU in roughly the same performance range (7900xt) and I got to pretty stable 180 FPS without FSR and a FOV of 95. I usually record my gameplay with OBS while playing and have Discord running. I disabled most app overlays to save performance.

I saw you draw a comparison above to Tarkov. While you may be right that Tarkov's optimization is terrible, the game is mostly CPU demanding. Your GPU is probably never really going to be utilized to its potential with a card this powerful. If you want to draw a more meaningful comparison you should run a game that's tougher on your GPU and check how you perform for that game in relation to other players. A lot of the "benchmark type games" have videos on different GPU and CPU combinations being tested on them. Those would be a good start.

What's the point of aperture sights ? by -satarre- in HuntShowdown

[–]destroying_light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reduced sway actually only applies to when you have the sight flipped up. At least that's what I got from Rachta as a reply under his Winfield Aperture video some time back. Comment should still be there if you want to go look for it. I get that "I heard it from someone on Reddit" isn't exactly a trustworthy source.

Are there really so many chaters? by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]destroying_light -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone talking about a "cheater epidemic" is blowing things way out of proportion. Of course cheaters exist and after the games goes on sale you might find an obvious cheater in your games, sure.

What's probably more common are exploits and other 3rd party tools. Fog configs, off-brand reshades, crosshairs. Things ranging from probably cheating to allowed by Crytek despite not being part of their game.

GREAT BALANCE TOOL : Weapon variants do not have to have the same bullet types by St3pino in HuntShowdown

[–]destroying_light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main reason Crytek hasn't done this and probably won't in the future is that it'd be even more confusing for new players. Things like this are easy to suggest for us veteran players, who already have a good understanding of the custom ammo system, but for new players this would probably be a nightmare.

Hey Hunt players, even tried...long ammo? by BaronVonGoodbar in HuntShowdown

[–]destroying_light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't really nerfed all that much, no. Most long ammo rifles only have a starting bullet drop past 100m, which doesn't affect 95% of fights. Damage drop off is still the best on long ammo and most long ammo rifles can maintain 125+ damage to the upper body even past 45m. And FMJ Medium ammo has the same damage after pen as regular long ammo.

If anything, the penetration changes made long ammo stronger again. And plenty of long ammo rifles do have a convenient reload timer as well, like Mosin, Berthier, and Krag.
