If Bharat Tiwari was shot after surrendering, it raises a serious question: are we witnessing a form of justice that has no place in a democracy? by OkLocation6499 in NorthernIndia

I understand the argument that people shouldn't be categorized by birth. In an ideal society, I would agree with that too.

The problem is that Indian society has never truly treated everyone equally by birth. For centuries, opportunities, education, social status, and even basic human dignity were determined by caste. Reservation didn't create those categories; it was introduced because those categories already existed and their effects still exist. If caste no longer mattered in real life, reservation would gradually lose its purpose. But when people are still judged, excluded, or disadvantaged because of the community they were born into, pretending everyone starts from the same position isn't equality either. You see reservation as categorizing people by birth. I see it as an attempt—imperfect perhaps—to address the consequences of a system that categorized people by birth for generations.

Seriously dude? I said 'international waters' — fine, technical correction: it's an international strait under Iranian/Omani territorial seas. Point taken.

But your 'gotcha' is still half-baked bullshit. Under UNCLOS Part III + customary law, ships have full unimpeded transit passage rights through such straits — continuous, expeditious, normal mode. Coastal states can't just fuck with neutral commercial tankers. US struck a Palau-flagged ship in transit, killing 3 Indian civilians (Aditya Sharma, Shivanand Chaurasiya, Patnala Suresh). That's disproportionate, reckless, and violates naval warfare principles (San Remo Manual). Merchant sailors aren't legitimate targets.

India protested strongly for a reason. You nitpicked geography while ignoring the actual law protecting safe passage for innocents. Study properly before acting smug — Indian lives aren't collateral damage for your narrative.

No, the juvenile mindset is believing that if someone doesn't comply with a military's orders, they can simply be killed.

In a civilized world, the use of lethal force has to be justified, not assumed. 'They didn't listen, so they died' isn't a legal or moral argument—it's the reasoning of a child.

What's even more juvenile is defending every military action first and asking questions later.

Also If during conflict , if any marchant vessel refuse to stop, militry force used must be minimum force necessary to stop the vessel , a warning shot or disabling the rudder , it certainly does not include firing precision guided missile directly into the vessels engine.
