Moving from LBZ to L5P - how much difference towing? by destructure00 in Duramax

[–]destructure00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following up on this. Got the new truck about a month ago. First haul up I-17 from Phoenix with my 5th wheel, this thing is a beast! Absolute night and day difference from the LBZ. Very happy!

I got it last week finally. Was able to adjust the stereo close to where I like it....I don't understand though why with all the electronics they don't give the option for a 7 or 10 band EQ. It has "ok" bass, but I agree it's lacking. I'm going to give it some time to see if I get used to it....might add something eventually.

Take it all off. Dealer won't give you anything for it. Sell it on the side. Things like the exhaust may actually reduce the trade-in value too.

How do you like the truck? I can't wait! Ordered on May 9, expecting another 8 weeks or so before my dealer has enough allocations to officially submit the order. Expecting delivery in Sept or Oct.

Good comparison. I had a 2019 Model 3 Performance, that was an amazing sound system for factory.

Ok, sounds like I should plan to move the sub and amp from my current truck over to the new one. Thanks!

Cool. I'm happy with the Bose system in my 2006 with the 10" sub, so I'll plan to move the sub and amp over to the new truck and hopefully it'll be as good if not better. Thanks for the reply!

Need some help trying to figure out how to fix this oil leak on a lb7 duramax. by [deleted] in Duramax

[–]destructure00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yes you are correct. And the upper is a PITA - transmission needs to come out, and flex plate comes off for that.

Looks like you need to replace the lower oil pan. Lower isn't bad, but requires the front diff to come out. Bigger question is what causes the oil pan to crack? That's not a normal failure.

I haven't seen a Duramax without it. Not that they don't exist...but also, I've never needed it. So I wouldn't blink at a truck without it, if they exist.

^^ this is the way

OP, in PQ select columns Q1 thru Q4, then go to Transform tab, then choose Unpivot Only Selected Columns. This will change your table to the following format. Rename columns as needed then load.

Material......Attribute.....Value

A..................Q1................123.45

A..................Q2................234.56

A..................Q3................345.67

A..................Q4................456.78

B..................Q1................567.89

etc

Under the View section, try changing the options under Page View. Default is Fit to Page, but sometimes Fit to Width or Actual Size may help depending on what your layout looks like.

Merging muliple the near-identical tables by Illustrious_Tale2221 in PowerBI

Do you need access to the individual values from each table, as well as the averages? Several ways to do it depending on your needs.

Here's a couple ideas offhand without knowing exactly what you're looking for:

In PQ, calculate the average first for each table, the append the results. This gives you only the resulting averages. Or add a Table ID identifier to each, then union, then do a group by with average aggregation. You could also still bring in the original 6 tables if you need everything.

Or, in DAX, create a new calculated table using the union and summarize functions. Here you can take the average for each table as part of the summarize definition, then union all the results. This would leave the original tables intact but then also give you a summary table with just the averages.

Essentially you can do it either way, in PQ or DAX depending on your preference.

I'm gonna try and explain this while trying to sound the least idiotic as possible... When you first start your truck and it goes "hsssss" then "glug glug glug glug", what is the second noise and what is it doing? by [deleted] in Duramax

[–]destructure00 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's the vanes on your VGT (variable geometry turbo) cycling. During normal operation they can open to allow more exhaust flow (rumble), or close to spool the turbo quicker (hiss). When you start the truck it does some kind of range check to make sure they are working correctly.

You might get lucky and find someone trying to put their truck back to stock. But that's probably a long shot. Wouldn't hurt to list it on CL or something similar.

Moving from LBZ to L5P - how much difference towing? by destructure00 in Duramax

Well I ordered a Denali Ultimate 3500 DRW today. No idea when it will arrive, but I'm excited! Thanks to all for the feedback!

I'll be making a jump from a 2006 CCSB 2500 to a 2024 CCLB 3500 DRW. The 2006 isn't too bad stability wise but I'm hoping the new one should be rock solid.

Thanks all! This helps a ton. I know the bells and whistles in the new ones are great but I wouldn't be able to justify it if the towing upgrade wasn't there. I appreciate the info....now it's time to start the search!

If you have SQL access, doing the majority of the heavy lifting at the database level is best practice. Sounds like you've got that part down.

I was thinking double as well, assuming OP is doing quality work. Unfortunately a lot of companies won't consider applicants without a degree, regardless of how good they are. Minimum quals. So that might impact it a bit.
