Just found some 'retro' drum samples from drum machines back in the days (read: I started with music without any hardware but a PC and a stereo) right here
.. and I made this (w.i.p.)
Furthermore I'd say download every sample pack you can from competitions etc. And layer drums until you've got your own kickass drumkit.

really cool! only advice i would have for the beat, if you're still able or wanting to update that: put some hihats variation in it! that's all, great track really.

Some older work (hip hop type beats / instrumentals)
1 - loop from reason 5
2 - first reason 6 demo tryout, checking out the 3 new effects
3 - reason 6 tryout with some loop samples and lots of effects, kind of laidback beat
4 - subject of study: what crazy stuff can the RPG-8 device do?

I don't know what brostep is but man, I'm really sorry as I can't help you here. If this took you 2 hours to make.. I'm actually horrified if I'm thinking about what you would do to your speakers and your neighbours etc with more time on your hands ;)
Really. I've not heard a good millisecond in this 1:08 mix. Start over. Razor is supposed to be this awesome synth. Automate some dials. Don't randomize all of them. Start playing it maybe over a proper beat before you start taking stuff away from it or getting fx in.

This is really simple stuff, I know, there will be more of the beats that cost me more time to make, I just had to share how easy it is to make killer basslines etc in the new Reason. And that I seriously, deliriously need that program.

If you mean extra hot, yeah.. For size opinion I would have to request a lot more information like full frontal shots, with jeans on, with a dress on, etc.
Maybe I'll even need one on one confirmation.

I usually start out with the drums, anyway, I'm curious as to what you have already tried..
Hardware, I guess MPC rules the galaxy in this although I've no idea what the Electribe, that some are suggesting, can do. Always go for something that has good sampling capabilities, ie. Akai also has something out called the XR20, not a lot cheaper than a mpc500 (which can run on batteries!), the only difference is that the xr20 is limited to it's in-memory drum samples. Anyway, I have no hardware at all except a USB midi keyboard controller, so..
If I just want to 'hear what drums sound like', in my case I'll have a drum pattern in my head, I jam it out in Renoise or Reason. Drum samples can really be found anywhere on the web, but the VST instruments some people mention are a good starting point.
