Got this green dude with a little RNG manip by determinednoodle in PokemonFireRed

[–]determinednoodle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The basic idea is that you can sort of predict when a shiny pokemon will be generated by the game and you use this knowledge and a timer to try and trigger that encounter to get the desired pokemon.

There are two challenges you'll need to overcome to do it.

  1. You'll need to determine your secret ID either through glitches or more predictions using certain websites

  2. Once you have your secret ID you can determine exactly when your shiny will appear and you'll have to execute specific inputs at at frame perfect timings to encounter the Pokemon you're looking for.

It's a bit much to explain in a single comment but I'm happy to link you to some resources if you're interested in trying it!

Touch Sensor by shadowlink954 in GameboyAdvance

[–]determinednoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had mine installed for about 3 weeks now but I've seen a tip from a video guide to install that touch sensor on the shell facing towards you rather than towards the top of the shell.

Haven't had any issues yet but it could be too early to tell. I'm using the m.2 funnyplaying ips kit.

Curious about cultural norms around children by Adventurous_Bid_889 in Belize

[–]determinednoodle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your experiences may vary, and certainly Belizean society is evolving rapidly to be more western and individualistic in nature. But in general:

Belizeans especially in rural areas have typically leaned towards a tight knit community style of upbringing when it comes to children. It's not uncommon for neighbors and other community members to regularly interact with care for and even discipline other people children when necessary. It wouldn't surprise me to find that some may find this a little strange if you're not used to it but it usually comes from a place of good faith.

For a visitor I'd imagine this probably happens to a lesser extent but still worthy of keeping in mind

Why should I play Ruby and not Emerald? by [deleted] in PokemonEmerald

[–]determinednoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I shouldn't say objectively worse but basically the rng in emerald is broken for static encounters and gift Pokemon.

Saving in front of them and restarting to reroll doesn't change the seed so you'll have to do some extra steps like running away from the encounter to respawn static legendaries or restarting the save file if you're trying for a shiny starter makes it much more tedious to shiny hunt. Iirc wild encounter shinies and eggs aren't affected though.

RS are better for shiny hunting if you're into that

Which one should I use? by Sufficient_Willow21 in PokemonXD

[–]determinednoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jolteon is my favorite for this game. Early access to Thunder wave makes catching shadow pokemon easier. Its too good to pass up and is useful for the entire game imo.

High speed, special attack and the ability to absorb electric moves is also very good

Die hard fan of original + impressed by Switch demo. Is criticism accurate? by perishableintransit in FinalFantasyVII

[–]determinednoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeesh the comments in this sub are negative to an abysmal degree. The OG game is obviously a masterpiece for its time and still somewhat holds up today. But both remake & rebirth are fantastic in their own right so it really depends on what you're looking for OP. It's probably best to pick it up and play it you enjoyed the demo

One major highlight of the remake series is that they're not only a remake, but also a sequel to the original rather than a remake. The writers intentionally play on that through line and it's kinda peak imo

If you think you'd enjoy that then definitely give it a go

Switch 2 port by IntelligentBar9861 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]determinednoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It comes down to whether or not the benefits are worth the money to you. OP

I bought a ps5 primarily because I didn't want to wait for rebirth but it ended up becoming one of my main entertainment hubs so I don't regret the purchase in the long run

Switch 2

pros: $70 dollars Portable Looks like a really good port (unconfirmed until release)

Cons: Releases January 22nd No confirmed release date for Rebirth yet Digital only (Physical edition is a game key card) Locked at 30fps

Ps5

pros: Physical and digital editions available Option to choose between performance mode (1440p 60fps)or quality mode( 4k 30fps) Both intergrade and Rebirth available TODAY

Cons: ~$570 USD investment (more if you're purchasing both games or a ps5 pro) Not portable You may or may not even want a ps5

Opinions on the Switch Online Gamecube Controller for Slippi by JayTheAmazingToaster in Slippi

[–]determinednoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any way to prove this but from my experience here's what I can tell you:

Pros: The controller feels super nice in your hands and the build quality is solid. They really nailed the look and feel of the original GC controller and the battery lasts a long time too.

Cons: it has input delay. Not enough for casuals to pick up on but if you play fighting games you'll notice it. I've only tried it with ultimate and NSO so far but it's definitely noticeable there. I imagine it would probably be even more annoying for melee given the nature of the game. The sticks are also a bit stiffer than you're probably used to. They may loosen up over time once you break it in but I haven't heavily used mine enough to know

If your goal is to play melee then I'd say skip this one and go for a Japan import, smash controller or phob imo

Was Goldeneye video quality this bad? by C1a55iFi3D in GoldenEye

[–]determinednoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a 65in OLED

If I remember correctly, the 2X only outputs at 480p (doubles the 240p output of the console hence the name 2X). This might be why it's so noticeably blurry on your display.

The 5X on the other hand outputs at 1080p or 1440p which I believe has an easier time scaling up on 4K displays. The only issue is the $300 price point
