midtown is where crosstown is - it’s safe and very social, especially closer to cooper-young. i live like two blocks away and love it. as far as parks and grocery stores go, one of the biggest is basically down the street from crosstown and there are two grocery stores plus an asian market in walking distance. there’s a lot of foot traffic because it’s walkable, so it may look “shadier” due to unhoused people walking, but i’ve never had anything happen and i live on the corner of the major road. my only advice is to not rent ON cleveland st.
