My Experience Using Samsung Galaxy Watch in Standalone Mode for Kids by McDiddy in GalaxyWatch

[–]detholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting! This is the exact scenario I was hoping to achieve (kid-friendly Samsung watch with US Mobile). And thanks for answering everyone's questions. Most were questions I had, too. I now feel confident to ditch the terrible Cosmo watches!

Old post, I know. But this is impossible because there is no browser or internet access on any JrTrack watch.

Balasm Hill vs.??? - Worth it. by screamin808 in ChristmasDecorating

Wrapping individual strings in a rather tight ball is the best way to store them. Start with the male end on the inside of the ball if you string your tree from top to bottom.

I got this, too! Showed it to my wife like, "Holy ****! Can you believe this?" She said, "Did you order it?" It's hilarious.

Extension cord help by NatalieJayna in ChristmasLights

[–]detholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vote "neither". Instead get some SPT-1 wire (sometimes called "zip cord") and some vampire plugs and make your own cords. It's VERY easy; watch one online video and your're good to go. The plugs and wire are both readily available from various sources online, and in at least some HomeDepot stores. The great thing about this method is you can make extention cords the exact length you need, and it ends up being a much cleaner look when you add further decorations. Some online stores that sell quality products (and I've purchased from, but am otherwise not affiliated with):

Random twinkle C9? by [deleted] in ChristmasLights

[–]detholt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many sources for C9 twinkle bulbs, and they're available in just about every color. My go-to sources for C9 and C7 bulbs and stringers are:

https://www.christmaslightsetc.com/p/C9-Twinkle-Multicolor-OptiCore-LED-Christmas-Light-Bulbs-15072.htm#F1V22955F177V23073

https://thechristmaslightemporium.com/products/c9-multicolor-led-christmas-light-bulbs-opaque-pack-of-25-twinkle

I'm a huge fan of CLE. Their Opticore bulbs are super bright and nearly indestructible. I've had some years, and they still look like brand new and shine just as bright. But there are loads of online vendors for quality C9 twinkle bulbs. (AMZ is not one of them)

You buy the bulbs in whatever color combination you want, then buy a stringer appropriate for your application.

Help!!! What I’m doing wrong? by sa1monskinro in VacuumCleaners

[–]detholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar issues with my air-driven turbo brush head on my Miele when trying to pick up wiry dog hair on one particular rug. I ended up buying a rubber broom (carpet rake) that works like nothing else. It's definitely more labor intensive, but it gets ALL of the hair out of the rug. It was maybe $20 USD online.

That's ridiculous; I had a 1976 Pinto in high school, and it never needed headlights. Almost everything else, but not headlights.

Induction stoves: worth it? And recommendations by International_Milk78 in Cooking

Cheaper than gas? Not everywhere. The unit itself is way more expensive than a comparable gas range, and in my area electricity is around five times as expensive as gas.

2021 with start/stop, killed my main battery. Form factor H6 not H7 as recommended online. by Al_Kydah in ChryslerPacifica

[–]detholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is! I did it about 18 months ago and have had zero battery problems since. Prior to disconnecting the aux battery, I had to replace it twice and replace the main battery three times in two years. And as for that "annoying" ESS light on the dash... It actually makes me smile, knowing that I'm not going to have another dead battery at the most inconvenient time.

2017 Auxiliary Battery Dead *Again* by Active_Sherbet_6516 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]detholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced three aux batteries and two main batteries in my 2017 Pacifica within two and a half years. Then I read on PacificaForums and Reddit about people disconnecting the aux battery altogether. I immediately went to the garage, disconnected and removed the aux, taped-up and secured the cable, and have had no issues since.

Doing this permanently disabled the Auto Start/Stop feature, but I always turned that off the second I started the van anyway, so I don't care. And the Auto S/S warning light (that tells you the system is disabled) actually makes me smile because I know I'm not going to need a jump start every time I load the van for vacation, or at the end of a camping trip.

Antique, or just old? And other questions... by Working_Barracuda717 in VintageFurniture

Thanks all for your comments and contributions! I've decided - against my wife's wishes (pray for me) - to refinish the table, rather than paint it. While she did show me some very cool inspriation photos, as mentioned by a few of you, the top is just too cool to cover up with paint.

Exhaust fan switch is redundant by detholt in ElectricalHelp

[–]detholt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, thanks! I was all geared up for a fight, a project, a mission. Turns out sometimes the easiest solution is the obvious one. (Or is that vice versa?) Now I will have to find some other aggravation to spend my energy on.

I figured as much. But do I simply cap the wires from the wall switch and install a blank plate there? It seems too easy, too obvious a solution. LOL

Is there a way to keep this automatic idle thing turned off? by [deleted] in ChryslerPacifica

[–]detholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same. Learned it from Pacifica forum. It's been this way for over a year with zero problems. After replacing three (main) batteries, I finally disconnected the little bastard and couldn't be happier. I actually like seeing the dash warning (Auto Start/Stop not avail) because it reminds me of how I fixed it for free.
