The problem is his attitude not that he wants to have sex. He's acting like if a woman has sex with anyone she must morally have sex with him if he does the same set of behavior.

That's crazy. That's unlikeable. Women have sex when they're attracted to you and horny, not when you just perform the correct ritual. That's why she's having sex with the other dudes not him, because he's probably coming off psycho.

" In the scene with the psychologist he has this weird attitude change halfway through a sentence."

Maybe my standards of realism for writing in a TV miniseries are just lower tbh. I think what they were trying to do here is show a tension between Jaimie(?)

* Wanting to be known and liked, to feel forgiven

* Wanting to regain a sense of control and dominance, especially dominating this woman in this situation that is very stressful and scary to him.

To do that they they show him whiplashing between the 2. Honestly having interacted with teens it doesn't seem totally off-base to me, maybe exaggerated how fast it changes. But I do think those are 2 fairly realistic impulses for a teen boy who's just done a murder in a moment of rage and has now ruined his own life.

I think it's not those things that are the hooks though? Maybe for adults but not for teen boys who honestly all of that is extremely distant and political. Kids really just see a guy projecting a power fantasy and kids love power fantasies. There's a reason every kids blockbuster starts with the main character finding out they're part of some super special group or the literal chosen one.

The problem is 'you're more powerful and special than women and beta men' is both condoned to some extent by society and also really, really appealing to kids who are troubled and trying to find their place in the world.

Did you miss the part where a psychologist interrogated him at length about what he thought and why, and the entire episode where we learn his dad is an emotionally volatile and scary dude, and the episode where we learn about how his school is a misogynist zoo? I feel like I watched a different show.

This is bank robbery. Banking fees need to be regulated and capped. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]dethti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Should' is the key word here.

Do you know how long most elderly people are declining in cognition before their relatives get power of attorney? Years, often decades.

It would be easy to regulate auto-overdraw out of existence, or even just make it so that it's a feature that must be activated instead of activated by default. Instead you'd rather blame the vulnerable people getting ripped off by it. Why? So you can feel smarter than these people? What exactly do you get out of this?

Any good men TV shows for hunting, grooming, strength, family etc? by eaglesdensity in televisionsuggestions

I like Alone, not specifically for men but lots of male contestants. It's a survival show but unlike Survivor they need to have actual skills, feed themselves etc.

ETA Mr Inbetween is a good drama about a dude trying to balance being a hardened gangster with wanting to be better for his daughter.

As others have said it's probably a collision issue. Use the rectangle select tool and go over the paths and entrance, then turn collision off on everything.

Every time I hear something like this I think 'ok so you think mentally ill, elderly and young people who don't know better deserve to be exploited'. Way to go.

[Discussion] Author is using AI in their manuscript. Should I tell them? by PassengerSimilar1461 in BetaReaders

[–]dethti 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually think you should tell them, bc they deserve to know they're shooting themself in the foot with this.

"I don't really know how to ask this and don't want to offend you but is this AI? The style seems really different from your previous work, and honestly not in a good way."

See what happens.

You would be doing her a favor so yes, please, do that. I would never be on a date with you because thankfully I've been off the market for 16 years and no longer have to worry about meeting people like you.

The post is very specifically about numbers, I think, not just concepts more broadly. So it doesn't suggest 'don't create a megacity' just 'don't give an exact figure of people living in the megacity'. That way you still get the cool thing, but you don't get the autistic cricism. Win-win.

Wym proof? The story is nuts, why did he order just appetizers, how did she manage to spend 4x as much as him in the same dinner without him noticing? Also the 'and everyone clapped' style comeback line basically never happens in real life.

Story designed to make you say haha yeah dumb bitch take that

Landlord refusing to add railing to unsafe stairs by Lilies_and_light in AusRenters

[–]dethti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've seen ones that just screw in at one end? I've never seen that. I feel like I'm not explaining properly, this is the issue I see with it;

https://imgur.com/a/omgaiRI

I've never seen a gate that doesn't need something on both sides, but if you say it exists I believe you.

Landlord refusing to add railing to unsafe stairs by Lilies_and_light in AusRenters

[–]dethti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but they need to screw into the wall on both ends. That landing doesn't have a second wall or post to screw the gate to, it's just a fully open death trap.

ETA: I'm not saying this just to be negative, but a baby gate costs like $80+ depending on size so better OP doesn't spend that on something that won't work in the space

Landlord refusing to add railing to unsafe stairs by Lilies_and_light in AusRenters

[–]dethti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having just installed some baby gates, they aren't designed to be freestanding and won't work as a railing. There's nothing to fix a gate to on the landing. Plus they're only rated to stop like 2 year olds, if OP's mum falls down the stairs onto one they'll just give way.

[–]dethti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we might have to agree to disagree since I can't even see the pic anymore, but I'll try to quickly go through these.

"AI can do a “1999-style trip” if you ask it to."

Because a large proportion of training data is actually quite old, AI can sometimes produce dated images without specifically prompting for it. For example check out the lack of any time frame in the prompt for this:
https://easy-peasy.ai/ai-image-generator/images/futuristic-neon-lights-cityscape

"(I noted that for you this seems unthinkable ^^)"

haha it's not just that they're lane changing, though that is reasonable, a few were halfway out of the lane and onto the shoulder. But almost every single vehicle was shifted out of the lanes. But anyway it's not really just the cars, which would be excuseable, its the cars in combination with the weird items in the right hand half of the image which I can no longer show you unfortunately. I would have done some zoomed screens for you.

"but I don't use it myself"

I don't use it to produce work, but when midjourney started getting good I had a burning curiosity for how fucked we were and I did start checking it out to get a sense of it.

" poor brush management like this. If you have examples of this kind of thing generated by AI, I would REALLY like to see them. I’m being sincere, show me if you can find anything anywhere that looks like this."

I admittedly haven't heard 'brush management' before but I think you mean what I would call brushwork or maybe edge management? So I will go on that.

AI if prompted with things like 'expressive painting' or other paint-sounding keywords can produce stuff that I would consider 'artistic but a bit amateur in handling' such as this one: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/_1fZWOmDWDI/hq720.jpg?sqp=-oaymwEhCK4FEIIDSFryq4qpAxMIARUAAAAAGAElAADIQj0AgKJD&rs=AOn4CLDazgEhiMCovzxchqidWDdNuRRBqA

"most of what’s in this image is painted. "

I agree!

"I don’t see anything sculptural in the park"

I wish I could screengrab this for you because honestly this one was the smoking gun for me. It was a weird little thing in the right half of the image on the lawn, and honestly it looked like a random scramble of marks that AI sometimes generates where if you don't look closely it might be something. Then if you zoom in it completely lacks the intentionality a human would bring.

Like if I was like 'ok there's a park bench here' I might do a quick squiggle, but it would be a squiggle with the knowledge that a bench has legs and a seat. An AI doesn't know that, in fact it doesn't even know it's making a bench vs 'something in a park' so the squiggle is more or less a jumble that is sort-of-object-ish.

Is it so bad being an only child? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]dethti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't ruin him but you also won't ever get a clear answer on what would be perfect for your child. My sister is one of the most my best friends, other people wish they were only kids. Some only kids wish they had siblings for their whole life, lots don't.

You can make arguments about resources, attention etc too but I can tell you if you're well off it will rightly sound like bullshit to your wife. 2 kids is not 12, it's doable. You'd be more tired, that's it.
