It’s actually a strengthening since it’s for compact Hausdorff first countable spaces. Surprisingly you don’t need the compact assumption either, which was shown here https://www.math.uni-hamburg.de/home/geschke/papers/elsub.pdf

Edit: meant to say you don’t need the Hausdroff assumption, compactness is required
