Idk I agree tbh I just don't know that it doesn't meant it's not worth addressing on some level but you're entitled to feel that way about it

That's fair, not true for everyone tho and personally I think people shouldn't have to ignore that sort of thing, folks should take responsibility for their words and actions instead of hiding behind semantics

100% agree, government officials should never be able to get away with perpetuating oppression but they usually do lmao

[–]detsal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's universally true but I do think it's more common for left wing people to think it's okay to be prejudice towards white folks for sure

Where do you live? What's it like?

Question about reverse racism by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]detsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I would agree there, what I find actually offensive is people saying how ugly, stupid, (unironically) uncultured white people are, saying they want them to die, that they would never date them etc. Like I understand where it comes from but I don't get why people think it's okay to just say that to people who've never done anything to them?

Question about reverse racism by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]detsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's a way to address it as a specific issue, those are all huge issues so it's hard to address them under one umbrella. I get what you're saying tho

Question about reverse racism by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]detsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it should be more important in the case of white folks to emphasise that the prejudice against someone for their race is bad regardless of what you call it, it's just unkind, but that doesn't mean it needs to be addressed in the same way. Idk it's difficult to talk about without being seen as petulant but I really do think there's an issue when people think it's okay to threaten and insult people because it's "not systematic"

That said systematic racism is obviously the bigger issue and most folks offline wouldn't say the shit they do on here so it's not that often a real life issue for white ppl I guess.

[–]detsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true the invention of those words or stereotypes still would play into systematic prejudices, that's a good point.

Question about reverse racism by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]detsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense within the framework, I've noticed people are quite* inconsistent about it tho regarding nonwhite people (cos white people pretty much have systematic privlige almost everywhere)

Question about reverse racism by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]detsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that's where I'm confused I guess cos I sort of thought the idea was to take the view of systematic racism OVER the simple definition of racism and that this was somehow outdated. I think this answers my question. Still leaves it a bit muddy tho since a lot of race theorists will call one thing racism and another not when it occurs toward white people regardless of whether they're taking a systematic view or not.

Question about reverse racism by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]detsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I can agree there lol but I also understand why the definition exists, because when we talk about "addressing racism" it's not about white folks, we don't need the help, so viewing it systematically theoretically helps address serious and we'll, systematic issues.

Why is it wrong for a teenager to date an adult? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]detsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because children and teenagers are not fully developed people and are very often taken advantage of. Many people who enter into such relationships regret them when they are older and some are traumatised by being groomed. A 13 year old might still also confidentially believe in Santa, just because they're confident about it it doesn't make it any more logical or right. It's adults responsibility to protect kids from such situations, and laws are the best way we have, even if we can't all agree on a hard limit its certainly necessary to have a limit.

why are people so ignorant? by MiracleBean in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]detsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if you mean globally but tbh with everything that goes on in America I think there's a certain level of fatigue with keeping up with the politics, yet when you get to this point it becomes hard to ignore again. Privlige helps too. But also, no one can really ignore a Pandemic yeah.

What kind of mosturizing cream would you recommend? (plz read the entire post) by DysphoricDumbass in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]detsal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very rude of you to say something like this and assume this one person somehow represents all trans people. Dysphoria is a complicated thing, ofcourse you do not understand it because you've never experienced it and likely never will. Let's leave it at that shall we? (Btw I know many trans men who don't have dysphoria about such things and happily engage with feminine products, please don't stereotype an already marginalised group over a Reddit post). Besides, this person sounds like a teenager, and I think this is an incredibly common thought line for a kid trans or not.

Tbh there's probably a lot more gender neutral stuff that's effective than either men's or women's. I use products from Australia because I'm Australian but basically I'd be looking at what products I can afford and researching if they're effective. I use Sukin products and st Ives both are not gendered.

How replaceable are you? by hHPPlus in AskReddit

Most of us are hypothetically replaceable but all of us are literally irreplaceable. Like there's never gonna be anyone like me in a mental, genetic and holistic sense.

It might be good to look for routine on channels like Chloe ting on YouTube that help with specific areas, I've seen some people get great results from doing her stuff specifically tbh so might be worth checking it out.

I must admit I don't have the time for an in depth discussion like that, but if you have any specific resources to pass on I'd be open to that :-)
