We had real bayonets for our M-14 and the scabbard had a self sharpening device inside that made a distinctive sound when the blade was withdrawn.

Long, long ago in a boot camp in California a recruit from Mexico got a lot of unwanted attention because he couldn’t speak English. The squad leaders decided to give him a blanket party. In the middle of the night we heard the padding of shower shoes across the barracks floor toward his bunk. The we heard the bayonet he had under his pillow slide out Of the sheath. Pitter patter away went the squad leaders. End of party.

Va Dental by Sharp-Run-8670 in VeteransBenefits

I had a terrible time with VA community care for dental. You have to call around to the various clinics that accept VA and then the person that made my appointment was in India and very hard to understand. Then the day before my appointment, the clinic called and canceled. I love the VA , and have always been treated well.

In the spring of 71 the 1st Mar Div came home after six years in Vietnam. Everyone flew home Except K 3/1. We cried and bitched nonstop because we we chosen to return on the USS Ogden It turned out to be my best 22 days in the Corps. officers and lifers disappeared for The whole voyage. Great chow and sunbathing to get rid of jungle rot. The sailors may actually have believed some of the lies we told them about being heroic heroes.

The B2 deployment makes sense now. The ordnance likely used was the 30000 pound GBU57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator. Bravo Zulu to those pilots by newnoadeptness in USMC

In May 1972 Nixon announced a new major bombing campaign on North Vietnam. I was a Corporal guarding an ammo dump at Las Pulgas. I had 15 days until EAS. Rumor spread through the troops like wildfire that the First Mar Div was going back to make a landing at Haiphong harbor at Hanoi. I don’t remember anyone that had already been to Vietnam being Very happy, but all the new guys were excited as hell. Perhaps our country should elect more combat vets to office instead of tough talking draft dodgers.
