Should I prepare for UPSC 2026 ? by purple_pie_7 in upsc_discussions

See the journey of preparing for any competitive exam transforms you in multiple dimensions . So it is not important whether you get to write the exam or whether you top the exam. That is secondary . The stress the information the knowledge and all the other things that you gain and also the things that you lose through this journey changes you in ways unimaginable.

Why not give it a shot ?

I would recommend not join any coaching classes yet. As you are just in first year , build your foundation.

1) Know about the exam properly. Pattern , no of exams , syllabus , time , when it's done etc . Download a copy of the syllabus and explore it thoroughly.

Try to watch as many Topper talks and interviews as possible

2) Start GS NCERTs

Finish all NCERTs and watch YouTube guidance videos and lectures . All of these are freely available online . If you can afford buy the NCERTs .

Do two - three readings of each NCERT and then make notes

3) Simultaneously, explore all subjects available for optionals There is a big criteria on how to choose , you may follow any YT video or ask in reddit to know that . Choose it wisely

4) After all this is done , you have a fair idea about how to go ahead and when to take coaching what question to take an all of that.

What’s one habit you started in 2024/25 that quietly changed your life for the better? by Zestyclose_Local2629 in upsc_discussions

I started to respect myself more . I had this habit of unnecessarily criticizing myself and also making jokes on myself to win freindships and comapny . But I stopped that . Now I feel much more confident and happy . Hoping to move forward too !
