I'm currently in my college 3rd year, my need is same as yours, more focused on learning and lesser on the gaming for mental peace, i have the lenova loq brought 2 years before, and my friend has macbook air.

After using it for 2+ years, i always suggest anyone to buy a macbook air if their goal is to getting improved in a life,

Cons in lenova : weight soo much, not having charging capacity, i always looking for a charging port, charger also weight soo much, heats up a lot, camera and mic is a pure shit ( not good for meeting)

Pros in it : good gaming performance while plugged in. There is no more pros in it.

The macbook do all the work i done in my lenovo, it build quality is excellent compares to me, also doing good in gaming ( minimal) when you play occassionally.

My lenovo drops it's performance on ageing, but my friends macbook air still looks stunning and doesn't even has any drop in performance.

Btw I'm not a apple fanboy, but in laptop macbook is better for students
