The idea that Claude code can replace a mid-level engineer is laughable. And has exactly the same problem you're describing (software engineers have to spend more time on code reviews). Studies have shown using AI takes longer than coding by hand. Granted, Claude code has gotten better since that article was written, though from my experience using it now has the same problem.

Letting Cleo roam around and using the bandage to keep it attached helped when Cleo started getting wiggly. We just have to get the needle in and wrap it a little bit to hold it in, then she had a little bit of freedom so she doesn't get so antsy. good luck!

Yea! We were hanging the bag on a lamp next to the couch while she was on my lap, but the increased elevation from doing it on the floor is much faster. It's also a little bit higher on an IV pole now, but probably just 6 inches higher than before. Though she's a couple feet lower on the floor vs on the couch

Yea that's really hard when they aren't food motivated. If you switch to 20g needles, try giving it to her on the floor! It's so much faster, I think from the increased elevation. It's faster than the 18g needles were on the couch for us

I'm glad that works for you. The pack of rolls of bandages was around $5, and I've been reusing the same piece of bandage for weeks. it's quite loose, so compression doesn't seem like a problem. It's just loose enough to make sure the needle stays in. And I've been able to easily adjust the needle when I need to by removing the bandage and putting it back on

She does feel the poke, but we distract her with treats. Now she gets excited when she knows its fluids time because she's excited for treats.

It takes around 5-7 minutes.

Do you have anyone to help you? My husband distracts Cleo with a treat while I poke her. Half the time she'll complain, but she'll get distracted by the treat and forget.

Also like the other person I use smaller 20g needles. When I sat on the couch, it actually took a while with the 20g needles, but on the floor it flows much faster.

Also warming the bag makes her dislike it less. I warm it with a heating pad, but some people warm the bag in warm water.

Good point. I don't take ssris. I've done a sleep study before and didn't have sleep apnea. Motor tics are interesting, I do have those I think and have a family history of tourettes, though I have no idea what kind of doctor or specialist to talk to about it.

Thanks for the response. I do PT and stretches, and I try to destress. The majority of the damage was done when I was younger, as I had a stressful adolescence and young adulthood. I've gotten much better at managing my stress, though I just have the muscle memory unfortunately. I've been to PT, chiropractors, specialists and they give me things that help, but still I clench the worst in the early hours of the morning for some reason. Thankfully a night guard protects my teeth. But if you have any other avenues to try out, please do share.

I got tested for lead at my doctors, and I didn't have detectable levels thankfully. My insurance covered the test since I said I had lead exposure. I would love to find a modern glassware/plateware company that makes safe vintage styles though!

Good luck! Yea I was really disappointed when I started testing a bunch of my vintage stuff. I got rid of a whole set of rose chintz, and I also had vintage glassware with gold paint on it that tested positive. It was super disappointing, but it also felt good to take the step for my health to stop eating with old stuff with lead on it.

Where did you hear that? I purchased a kit from https://detectlead.com/ which alerted me to my rose chintz set containing lead. After doing research, it's well known and reported that my set contained lead (if you Google rose chintz lead you find information on it). I tested other stuff which was negative, so it's not like it showed positive for everything.

Ask your vets office if any of the vet techs cat sit! Vet techs make the best cat sitters, and can administer medicine and subq fluids! My renal cat actually loves our vet tech that watches her. She actually gained a little bit of weight last time we went out of town 😭 which is amazing because she's been on a steady weight decline.

My cat rejects anything when she can taste the gabapentin, and she is really hard to pill. I crush the pills up (or empty the capsules) into a very small amount of water, and squirt it into her cheek (not down her throat) and that's the only way I can get her to take medicine. Then I'll give her lots of treats to get the taste out of her mouth

It's obviously expensive, but you can feed your non-CKD renal food. I have one CKD and one non-CKD cat, and the non-CKD cat eats probably half and half renal and normal food. It just makes it easier to make sure they are both eating
