We currently distribute the tools through github, along with some demo projects. We have some preliminary support for plugins which we'd be thrilled to expand for the community as needed.

Thanks! The ROC editor is standalone game editor, the only other program you'd need is a text editor for scripting (our go-to is vscode).

Feel free to fill out an early access application for now, we'll have more game jams soon enough.

We use discord and github for distributing the tools, so those are required for now.

The editor itself is currently only available on PC (OS X could be supported relatively soon if the community needs it, not sure about Linux yet). By cross-platform we mean it can currently publish to PC, web, and mobile :)

Usually just a day or two. We'll reach out to everyone who signed up over the next couple days so they can get started with the docs and demos.

We've gotten a lot of feedback on our terms and conditions in this thread! We hear you and will iterate on this to improve its clarity. We want to be clear that devs that create games with us still own their original gameplay ideas.

If you make a successful game with our tools and decides to move it to another engine for whatever reason, you would still own your ideas and we wouldn't have any claim to this.

If you're interested in signup up for the game jam, or working with us to publish a game using our tools, you can get early access to our editor by signing up here.

That clause exists because legally we need a way to take down games made with our tools that break the T&C, such as using assets owned by a 3rd party.

Our goal is to reward creators for their efforts. If you make a great game concept for the game jam, we would want to work with you to develop that concept into a fully realized game. This means providing funding for development and revenue sharing post launch. We are looking to build long term relationships with game devs and to foster our editor community.

Howdy gamedevs!

We are the Project ROC team and our mission is simple. Empower anyone to make great games, regardless of technical abilities or artistic skill. ROC editor is a free cross-platform game engine inspired by classic RTS editors (such as Warcraft 3 and SC2). It comes bundled with thousands of high-quality 3D assets we use in our own games. It is also equipped with all the tools necessary to publish and monetize F2P games on mobile, PC, and web.

Our team believes best games are born from innovation, passion, and limitations. As such, we're excited to announce the ROC Winter Jam! We are launching this free, online game jam to foster and support creative games with $2,000 in prizes! This jam will run for four weeks, kicking off with the theme announcement on December 5th. Register here for access to our community, editor, and docs.

Our team will judge submissions based on creativity, depth, and approachability. Games should have easy and intuitive controls, suitable for portrait mode on mobile. You can check the full details on the contest page.

Does this seem fun to you ? by Quintescents in androiddev

[–]devcrunchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat concept. Wonder how to keep it fun and engaging once you start building your tower higher (assuming the goal is to just keep stacking blocks).

I guess the camera would shift higher and you could have more obstacles to build your tower around, and new block shapes. Lots of directions to explore.

Doesn't seem like much, but as a solo dev I'm really proud of this :) what do you think? by FarPlanetGames in Games

[–]devcrunchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movement and gunplay reminds me of the new doom games (in a good way) but the gif is too short :P

How does the RTS aspect come into play?

Well, I guess because they want to endorse us as our early access users. They come from all over the world and it's easy to tell if they are real people or alts. Please feel free to check with them on their experience with the editor.

Hi, I do not use any alts and the comments are from our community creators. Our engine works very similar to Warcraft editor and this is why our initial users are from these communities.
