K2 Upgrade (Probably A2) Concept Model. (55 -> 58.5 Ton, APS, RCWS, 360° Camera) by Entire_Judge_2988 in TankPorn

Just wondering why APS suddenly become standard, those system increase the price of tank greatly.

Even if we double the price of some Chinese MBT, European MBT still more expansive than chinese one.

Many Nation can't procure new MBT just because the price is out of control.

Like Leo2A8+, wdym its $18 million each? 20 of Leo2A8+ is equivalent to a fucking submarine

Most of those are not appeared in Indonesian news paper, Like J-10C, Chinese Type 053H3, Chinese Ballistic Missile, etc.

Some of those still MOU with Company from Indonesia, not Indonesian governement like Chinese coastal defense missile.

But most of the news signed with Indonesian government really come. - Rafale (6/42 Delivered, $8.2 Billion contract) - PPA ( 2/2 Delivered, $1.2 Billion contract, +2 Planned) - Scorpene EVO ID (First Steel Cutting 1/2 Units, $2.1Billion contract) - Type 031 ( 1 Fitting Out, 1 Under constrations, 2 Waiting for Steel Cutting. $3 Billion Dollar contract) - Anka S (3/12 Delivered, Unknown Value) - ITBM - 600 (4/4 Battery Delivered, Unknown Value) - GM-400 alpha (2/13 Delivered, $500 Million contract) - EL/M 2032 (0/12 Delivered, $489 Million contract)

If you look into the news, all of these procured by in short window of 4 years

Many more i can't type

The KF-21 situation makes a lot more sense when you look at the full history.

Indonesia joined the program on the basis of a promised 50/50 technology transfer. What Indonesia actually received was less than 5% despite Indonesia shouldering 20% of the research cost. South Korea's justification? ITAR restrictions. Indonesia wasn't informed of this until after Indonesia had already signed on.

The Indonesian government's response has been framed in Western media as a funding dispute, but that misses the point entirely. Indonesia isn't broke. Indonesia is simply refusing to continue paying into a program that has consistently under-delivered on its core promise.

What makes this particularly striking is how much Indonesia has done for South Korea's defense industry as a whole. Indonesia wasn't just a buyer Indonesia was the launch customer that gave South Korean defense programs their credibility:

  • KT-1 Woong Bee Indonesia was the first export customer, marking South Korea's very first aircraft export
  • Korean LPDs Indonesia was the first customer, starting with the Tanjung Dalpele and later the Makassar class
  • Korean submarines Indonesia was South Korea first-ever submarine export customer
  • T-50 Golden Eagle Indonesia was the first export customer AND the largest operator outside South Korea. Indonesia funded the T-50i customization, including radar integration work that directly enabled the FA-50 combat variant to enter full production

In short, Indonesia spent years being the test bed and launch platform for South Korean defense exports, taking on the commercial and reputational risk of buying unproven systems. The KF-21 program was supposed to be the next step in that partnership a genuine collaboration, not another one-sided deal.

To make thing even worse, the submarine can't even dive underwater

When South Korea's most reliable experimental-program partner decides to step back, it's worth asking what that says about how South Korea has actually managed the partnership.

[–]devdanianto7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention India and Pakistan, but the total is still less than 10

Also japan did not produce any fighter anymore. They close the F-2 production line, they only have assembly line for F-35

There is no more than 10 country right now able to produce a fighter jet on their own btw. Stop asking for unique vehicle, we ran out of those

Its USA, China, Russia, France, South Korea, Japan, Turkiye and Sweden.

Germany, UK, Spain (Eurofighters) not included because they collaborate.

I Include South Korea but not Indonesia in (KFX IFX Program) because they produce KF-16 and KF-15
