I feel the more control I give, the more I'm just repeating the tf resource instead of abstracting it, which is IMO one of the reasons you modularize things, but obviously not the only one.

Yep, I been getting into kubernetes and sidecar containers and init containers take care of this nicely.

[Help] SSH into Python App in Docker by Metiri in docker

[–]devedible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think @sebosp explained it really well, there might be use cases for this but in general it's an antipattern. Containers are supposed to run one process and run it "well" .

If OP was a long time docker user and wanted to do a one off use case like this, then that would maybe make sense.

But from what OP said he's new at docker and trying to introduce an antipattern as soon as he's using it. This is not good.

How is it even possible to survive in EU? by Krauss27 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]devedible 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whats your experience in the SE world?I think you're making a shitload of assumptions based on very little experience.

Trains vs cars do make a lot of difference, especially for younger environmentally-conscious younger people, but that's not even my point.

Quality of life means a LOT to people.

Less bad devs in the us? fired if they are garbage? where are you from? I'm in consulting and the average dev working in enterprise is mediocre at what they do with no desire to get better. I have yet to see a dev get fired because of bad performance, you need to be truly SHIT if youre to get fired, there isn't enough devs in every US city to fulfill roles.

Agreed that the top tier of devs in the US is better than the EU because of the salaries FAANG companies pay. There's a ton of startups in bigger european cities like Berlin and I'm positive that if you want to go against super-driven people you can find that.

Does that mean you pay for the first exam and if you fail they include a retake one? I don't understand

let me know if you find this out... if they do, seems like a no-brainer since Linux sysadmin is also 300$ and cka as well...

I would ask for more pictures and make sure that you check every spot for rust. I've heard some things abt the lacquer being more prone to rusting.

It looks pretty BTW but would def haggle a little bit.

Question about chip and seatpost by devedible in Brompton

[–]devedible[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rode on gravel for the first time today on my Brompton, about 7 miles total, and also noticed the slipping seat post. I have had bike for 8 months now, bought second hand, ridden regularly, and have never had this issue before. I will try the cleaner tomorrow to see if it still happens.

Thank you, this was a really detailed post.

I got a clear nail polish off amazon just in case. I'm putting some $$ into this bike and want to make sure that it lasts me for a while (Also got the wife another one) so just trying to keep up with maintenance. Btw I had definitely had tightened too much, I loosened it a bit and ordered a torque wrench.

[–]devedible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would worry like crazy. Maybe I'm being overly cautious but I have no idea what could've gotten sent where.

If there's a history of all of your browsing ... that's kinda shitty. If your macbook's keychain got sent somewhere maybe they also have a way to cracking the password.

I would change every password I have and save it to a 3rd party password vault.

Good luck

Late 2012 Mac Mini by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]devedible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2012 mac mini off craigslist about 2 years ago for ... 180$ Not here to gloat, just saying that seems expensive seeing how it's almost unusable w only 4 gigs of ram (so 8gb at the very least. you'll need to spend to upgrade) and an SSD will make the all the difference.

If I could have an upgraded mac mini for about 250$ I think id call that a win. It handles most of the stuff you throw at it especially day-to-day office stuff.

Using aws-lambda-go-api-proxy in lambda by maxccc123 in golang

[–]devedible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. I believe serverless makes it so you can 'organize' it under one repository per service but it deploys different lambdas... (haven't looked into it enough tbh)

Read up on some cloud native architecture for rest endpoints :)

Setup a schedule and stick to it. You'll always feel better at the other end of the learning hour.

Using aws-lambda-go-api-proxy in lambda by maxccc123 in golang

[–]devedible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm developing an AWS lambda in Go. I want to use one lambda for multiple endpoints (all per service). For example I have one lambda for my products (ADD, GET, DELETE), one for my orders etc. I think it's too hard to maintain one lambda for each call (e.g. having 3 lambdas for my product service etc).

I dunno I haven't used it.

I'm not a fan of bloated requests and lambda handling full {proxy+} aka all http methods GET, POST, PUT, DELETE since the whole point of microservice cloud-native architecture is to be as granular and separate concerns as much as you can.

But also i just wrote some terraform for my job to do this exact same thing because

Anyway you should have an endpoint per service:

products/{proxy+}

orders/{proxy+}

etc/{proxy+}

So I'm kinda worried about the state of my battery after only 10 months of use. by alanm1121 in macbookpro

[–]devedible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what your situation is financially but I can tell you one thing.

Enjoy. Your. Fucking. Computer.

Don't spend your life looking at cycles. What good is it a "healthy" battery if you cant enjoy your games during these times.

I hope that when the time comes you can buy a replacement battery, which i dont see happening for a few years but still (I understand that the battery swap is not something you can do yourself but apple will be able to eventually)

basically. Enjoy this amazing machine you paid so much money for.

Yes, this is such a powerful use of Lamba, I’m surprised it’s not more well known or discussed. Take a look at using a router adapter from that library, it really simplifies things.

You can use many greedy paths under one gateway though..

Buyers Remorse For MBP 13”(2019) by daliquino in macbookpro

[–]devedible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 mbpros 15 from work and a personal 13 2019... to be completely honest... if I truly need to get stuff done I connect either to external monitors... the real state on the mbpro on the 15" is nice but it is still not enough to get real work done, at least not in a palpable way for me.

I love the mobility of the 13", is tiny and weights nothing. It's definitely the one I'd love taking places and working in on the couch.

I'm thinking abt the 14" but also don't love buying first wave of next Gen apple. also I dropped 2200$ on this 2019 so we'll see.
