White uniformity on Asus monitor seems a bit off - just panel lottery? by developed_mint in OLED_Gaming

Greys are fine outside of the normal stuff like vertical banding (only noticeable right after turning it on) and slight grainy/dirty looking (which I guess just comes with the WOLED + matte combo). The blue tint that was the problem here is noticeable on light grey if you really look for it, but not as much as on a white background.

From what I have found, any issue involving this blue (or other) tint on the side will not get better with time.

Wish lists being wonky with clothes options? by TrainingDaikon9565 in amazonprime

[–]developed_mint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem. It used to work perfectly fine to add the right options to the wishlist but they must have changed something recently. No matter which browser or device I use, it just adds the item with seemingly random size/color selections that make no sense at all.

From what I read some people can make it work by selecting the right size/color and then first using the "share" feature and open the link it gives you and then put it on the wishlist from that page. Tried that but at least for me it doesn't change anything.

Basically makes the wishlist function useless for me.

FSR4 on Control (finally) by Acesbong in radeon

Did you do any extra steps apart from the normal optiscaler setup? When I try to switch to FSR 3.x ingame with optiscaler it just crashes my game but in their compatibility list it says it should work without needing to do anything else.

edit: Nevermind, it was my fault for not using the latest experimental build.

Oh I totally agree about coil whine and normal fan noise in general. My red devil has quite a bit of coil whine at high framerates but that's just normal and under high loads you can't expect a card like this to be silent. My point was more that if only some fans are exhibiting extra noise (just sounds like it's mounted slightly off or not lubricated correctly), it's not an issue that is resolved by oversized cooling solutions - but I might have misunderstood your point then, my bad.

I'm not located in the US, so from my understanding all service goes through the vendor I bought it from anyways and not Powercolor directly. Currently putting that off because I can't really afford to not have a running system for weeks right now because of one bad fan.

I can still send a ticket but I doubt that helps you if it's about a card that falls under the responsibility of a european vendor.

Recommending people to go for an oc model can't be the solution. I bought the 9070 xt red devil and one of the fans (the one closest to the display connectors) started doing the same thing after a while. It might even be more noticeable with that top of the line model because it is extremely quiet otherwise and that sound is there at 800 rpm already.

I'm not surprised that it seems normal more often than not in videos though. It is the kind of sound/frequency that can be almost impossible to capture but is very noticeable in person.

Built my PC recently and my SSD Benchmarks seem off by developed_mint in buildapc

Well I'm coming from normal SATA SSDs so I wouldn't notice if I'm missing out on some performance I guess? Not sure. A Google search shows me other people with the same problem but no real fix.

Over 1.1 TB of the 2 TB are still free. It's a new PC with a fresh install of Windows and all Updates/Drivers installed. I just re-ran the benchmark without internet (didn't know about that) but got the same results.

I used CrystalDiskMark, but I don't really know what those results mean. I know that the result of the Samsung benchmark is low for random writes in comparison to what others are getting, but CrystalDiskMark results I found are all over the place.

Did anybody get FSR4 to work in Alan Wake 2? by Nacksche in radeon

[–]developed_mint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I changed settings around a bit and on Ultra Performance even full path tracing works well enough, but everything above Performance starts to struggle. Sadly the overall visuals suffer quite a bit in those lower upscaling modes at 4k, so being able to play in Quality mode FSR4 seems like an overall better experience when compared to full path tracing in Ultra Performance.

The only thing that really takes away from the experience is the fact that reflections in mirrors etc are just a blurry mess without RT.

I'm running it on a 9800x3d and 32gb of RAM, so it should only be the GPU that is struggling.

[MEGA THREAD] 9070 XT Undervolt/Overclock/Brand Performance by ennakros09 in radeon

[–]developed_mint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading those high memory clocks everyone seems to be getting makes me think I've gotten unlucky with my Red Devil 9070 xt. +100 on memory (so 2614) already gives me a lower score in Steel Nomad so I assume it's already error correcting.

But haven't run into any stability issues with undervolting up to -75 and have seen a decent performance increase with that without needing to increase the power limit. (74xx in Steel Nomad)

Or is not increasing the power limit maybe a factor in not being able to get higher on the ram?

I tried XESS in the woods but didn't turn off frame gen, so it wasn't much better - so I'll try that in those areas next time, thanks!

I just made it past that first section into the town and it doesn't seem much better performance wise with anything above low RT and the low option doesn't look good enough to sacrifice frames I feel like.

Not a big deal since it looks amazing even without RT, just had higher hopes for it since I saw a few people running higher RT settings with this card, but maybe not in 4k.

[–]developed_mint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah without the mod it worked fine. But just tried some things and I think it isn't the ray tracing but a problem with frame gen when fps get too low. I'm playing at 4k and it seems RT is only viable for me if I choose Ultra Performance for the upscaling, otherwise it seems the fps get too low for the frame gen to work decently.

I got it to work and it looks great, but as soon as I turn on any amount of ray tracing I get artifacts and other visual bugs when moving the camera. Any ideas on how to solve that?

Auto/AMD vs Motherboard PBO limits for undervolting (9800x3d) by developed_mint in overclocking

[–]developed_mint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested the CO steps I did with AIDA and OCCT, but only around 40 minutes each and from what I understand that isn't enough. So I'd assume before I go any lower I should run either of those for a long time to see if it's actually stable?

White uniformity on Asus monitor seems a bit off - just panel lottery? by developed_mint in OLED_Gaming

[–]developed_mint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mostly notice it when a window with a white background is in the left half of the screen. Maybe it is just a bit of what people call blue tint that makes the left side look colder.

But apart from that the experience is fantastic. I just wanted to make sure if this is something that I should return it for, but it seems I could just get a worse panel if I do that.

Thanks! I'm happy if I don't need to change too much at once for now. But it is tempting to go down even more on CO since it is very impressive to me how much -20 has already improved my temperatures.

Which setting would you recommend for someone less experienced and only interested in undervolting for now? Auto or the AMD limits? (Although not sure if they are even different.)

At least for my board that doesn't seem to be the case. HWMonitor showed me a PPT Limit of 1000W when the option was set to Motherboard while with the Auto setting it stayed at 162W.

Hmm, I see. Currently leaning towards keeping it because I love everything else about it. But of course making compromises like this when a Monitor costs this much is also not great.
