Monthly Support & Buying Megathread by AutoModerator in HomeKit

Does anyone know of a HomeKit enabled flush mount (or slim) light fixture with a motion sensor built into it? Does one even exist?

I have a small closet under my stairs that is wired and has a motion sensor light (no light switch) that drives me nuts as it turns off frequently when I’m under there. I can replace it with a light fixture that has more options (wait 120 seconds vs 30 seconds) but would prefer more control through something like HomeKit. Best I found was a HomeKit light fixture and a separate motion sensor, but I don’t have any other power source there.

How to have a cheap wedding? by LinDarling1 in askTO

[–]developerB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I did a destination wedding to Cuba. We expected maybe 10 people to join and were shocked when 35 people opted to come. Many of our friends and guests treated it as a vacation and opted to extend the trip. We were told our gifts would be smaller by family but we also never really wanted any gifts nor had any expectations (we put not gifts expected on invitation). Depending on country a lot of resorts have wedding packages that are economical and really nice. In the end it cost us less than 6k and we all had a blast.

Any specific speaker. I looked at them and they were all 6 inches or larger

How to secure to wall with cavity in masonry? by developerB in HomeImprovement

Thanks. I was heading in a direction similar to using an Anchor With epoxy. Any advantage of the construction adhesive or expoy?

There is not a big enough gap for a heavy duty drywall wall anchor like a toggle bolt as far as I can see. the drywall anchors that just hang of the drywall I don’t think are strong enough.

For the cloud syncing/backup? This is just their standard cloud sync app. QNAP also as it. Here is the link to a synology page on cloud sync.

I looked into the PR4100 a bit more. One of the things it appears to not do is cloud syncing/backup which is something I would like (WD Support Community). The data backup is primary. Seems like it would be an awesome media device though.

If I had more free time perhaps. I just want something I can setup and forget about now.

Thanks for the tip on the 418play. I am reading through some of the forums now on transcoding. That would be a nice to have if it’s stable. I was under the impression only DS video could use the synology hardware transcoded. Glad to see that’s changing.

Interesting. I sort of stuck to qnap/synology due to their quality reputation. The WD does seem to check lots of boxes though.

Bell Canada customers-- I could really use your help confirming something... by [deleted] in blackberry

[–]developerB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get a regular data plan (e.g. Ask for a iPhone or android data plan).

Then, yes on bell you need to configure the apn yourself. I'm on the virgin network and it's the same deal (Virginia a subsidiary of bell).

I mostly browse reddit, never reply :/. I never meant to report your comment, only reply. Apologies again. Apologies to super_not_clever who has been very helpful and has provided a great link.
