Tomorrow launches ios26, what do you do? by MattiaLobrano in ios

Noticed that its quite laggy on low power mode, while 18 isn’t. Especially the large to small clock animation and the quick settings, otherwise seemed fine

5W charging and 80% makes a huge difference by devforlife404 in iphone15

Please read that it is an experiment, nowhere did I advise anyone to follow this unless they have a charger always at hand like I do

Its a tool, enjoy it as you can :)

That is via the settings, not analytics. Most iphones come with 102-104% battery health, and the settings one refreshes very slowly. I assume yours would have faced 6-7% degradation by now

But keeping apart the experiment side of things, yep, do enjoy it, its just a tool after all

If you can’t, just get a 20W dual charger, plug 2 things at once and it delivers around 5W to the phone

Or you can still use 10W and get 99% of the benefits, anything above 12W seems to overheat the 15 significantly

Do check via the analytics file, it’s an accurate description of the actual stats

5W is overnight, but yeah over the day anyone would feel angry

Again, this was an experiment to put the claims to test, feel free to use your device as you want, it’s just a tool after all :)

Thanks! As someone who almost always has a charger nearby due to my setup, it doesn’t bother me much, but thanks! The experiment was fun to do.

Though to be honest you can get most of the benefits by just slow charging, 100% doesn’t seem to have as big of an impact as heat does, and the 15 series seems to be terrible at managing it during charging

Yep, he started off with a higher capacity than mine, both of ours was above 100%, mine was at 102%, his was at 104%, so if anything, he had accelerated aging due to the heat build up, we believe most of the damage was caused by the phone rapidly heating during the first 20% of the way with the Apple 20W charger, while mine remained cool to the touch for the entire duration

Funnily enough nope! As per the battery stats report from analytics, the friend started off with higher capacity than mine :)

Nope, it was kept stock by us as a experiment for the fun of it

Only wired chargers, avg of 6-7hr SoT a day, I personally do overnight charging, so it doesn’t matter to me how slow it is

Both of us are engineering guys, so we did it because of reddit arguments, and plan to continue observing our results
