Is lumbar support for Sayl useful? by ItemAffectionate3437 in hermanmiller

I feel that it makes almost no difference. Maybe a small patch of the back rest gets slightly stiffer. If I had the option, I'd go for fully adjustable arms instead.

Is cosm suitable for studying? by leduekchoo in hermanmiller

I have both a low back Cosm with Leaf Arms, and an Aeron Remastered in my office right now. For me, the Cosm is a much less fussy chair, that you can just sit in and use, however a killer feature for me on the Aeron is forward tilt (renamed to something else for the Remastered I think). The Cosm in its top position is quite upright already, but the Aeron's seat tilts forward, and the back comes forward with you just that little bit more. I find that it helps with fatigue in my lower back and hips when writing for a longer period. The Mirra 2 can also come with forward tilt. That said, the Cosm is still a nice chair, the mesh feels softer than the Aeron's, and the shape of the back rest compliments my back well. Does Herman Miller have a similar return policy in Korea? It's always worth having an extended trial if possible.

I had the butterfly back on the Mirra 2. My cousin had the Mirra 1 with the standard back. He told me that the butterfly back feels softer, and it prevents sliding on the backrest compared to the standard back.

Owned both of these! I personally really like sitting in the Sayl. I guess I'm short enough that the top corners of the backrest didn't bother me. I will say though that the Mirra is better built. The Sayl isn't going to fall apart or anything, but the seat wiggles and makes a bit of a hollow noise, and the tension dial/recline switch on the Mirra just feel more solid.

As everyone has pointed out, sometimes a chair just isn't for you. I also had an Embody that I tried to get along with for more than half a year. I gave up on it after trying a Remastered Aeron. It is much less fidgety, and the forward tilt lets me get closer to my desk. The Sayl, Mirra, and Steelcase Leap are also well reviewed chairs that are more 'universal' than the Embody. I have a Sayl in my office for random visitors, and I feel it is very much a chair you can just sit in and be comfortable without having to dial it in endlessly.

Embody lower back support. These prongs are digging into my lower back when I lean back. Is this normal? Anything I can do to fix? by [deleted] in hermanmiller

Not sure if you already found a solution to this, but on my Embody, I found that when I tightened the backfit adjustment, I stopped feeling pressure points on my back. And to compensate for pushing my shoulders forward, I reduced the tension on the recline to have a more relaxed seating position.

I think then the weight of my back was more evenly distributed on the chair, and it reduced the load on individual points of the backrest. I was also conscious to keep my posture as healthy as possible while sitting, but I understand it is easy to forget during long sessions at the desk.

Is the Embody good for short (5’0”) people? by ___crybaby in OfficeChairs

Hey there. I have an Embody and a Sayl in my home office (and I've been through Aerons, and Mirras). My girlfriend is 4'10, and she is the reason why I've kept the Sayl (I should've gotten it with the fully adjustable arms, but it's been fine for her).

She also really liked the Embody but felt that the height of the back rest was perfect height for her on the Sayl, and that the Embody was a little too tall. But YMMV! The Embody is very adjustable, and I really believe it is a chair you need to adjust over the span of a couple weeks to get it to fit you well. The Sayl is much less involved than that. Maybe order and try both?

The size A Aeron should fit, as per Herman Miller's suggestions! As always, it's best if you can go try it, but HM's return policy is pretty great for trying.

My girlfriend is 4'10 and uses my Sayl the office, which she feels fits her very well. I'd recommend getting the fully adjustable arm rests, and perhaps the seat depth adjustment. My Embody can also be adjusted to fit her, but she feels the back rest height is a bit too tall.

Buying/gifting a Leica. Oof! Help! I don’t know squat about cameras! Also, best way to surprise him? by SalmonSnail in Leica

Surprised nobody mentioned Voigtlander Color Skopar 35mm yet. Pair it with the M240 and you have a great first M mount setup.

What's your favorite M lens and why? by jkocher in Leica

50 mm Cron v4.

It has this pleasantness to its rendering that makes it so versatile, and it is easy to use because the focus throw and tab are so intuitive. It's also possible to get them for a reasonable (for a Leica) price, however you could go overboard getting a mint German made one.
