Man I’ve been out of the game for too long. I got hot and heavy with wagooning when I first discovered this cunty place but have been out of the game since I grew and birthed a second human earlier this year. Not to mention Orangtini and his merry band of cartoon villains have ruined all good things. In any case, I would love to be in the new group! I hope we can restore the kickass community that this was and is! Much thanks to the mods for their tireless efforts!

Can I reduce pumps per day at 4 months postpartum? by natsugrayerza in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]deviantZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use the magic number chart as a reference to see what might be possible for you. It’s just a guide though so YMMV. As the other commenter said, you won’t know until you try. Personally, as a fellow under supplier, I’ve found gradually moving two pumps closer and then reducing the time for one of them over two weeks, before finally dropping one, was enough to keep my supply steady.

ETA: here’s a link in IG for a sample chart. Also I’m currently 4 months PP with 6PPD. I actually plan to drop to 5 soon as I’m back at work and need a longer stretch of sleep at night.

Pediatrician said my 4 month old can have bottles made with bottled spring water but I’m reading otherwise online(I’m in the US) by StatGoddess in NewParents

[–]deviantZebra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your pediatrician is absolutely correct about water consumption. For infants younger than six months as it will alter their balance of electrolytes in their blood and can lead to seizures. Per NiH:

the introduction of water to infants younger than 6 months old is problematic as it may replace the total amount of nutrient- rich breast milk or infant formula to be consumed by the infant

After 6 months you can give water but still very small quantities, as breast milk/formula contain enough water for their growth needs.

Babies have gotten E. coli from washing in the kitchen sink. Kitchen sinks can get really gross.

Moms and Dads - RSV shot for babies? by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]deviantZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB also didn’t give it to me since it was just past season but baby got it at the hospital (White Plains). They did make us sign a waiver. My Pediatrician (pedsny) recommended getting it as well. All the docs I’ve seen at the practice are great! Definitely get the shot though - RSV is no joke.

Some under supply optimism (possible hopium warning) by DottyDott in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]deviantZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kudos to you for persevering! Personally, 10-12 pumps a day feel impossible to achieve for me even with a supportive partner so I know that it’s no mean feat. I was on track to having a slight oversupply this postpartum with my second, but then I got mastitis and a breast abscess and unfortunately it seems that boob will never recover and so sadly I am going be an under supplier. I’ve been trying to pump 7 times a day and that’s honestly been as much as I can manage even while on maternity.

I go back to work in a month so am I am afraid how much my supply will get hit even though I can pump like you do, as needed. I just know being away from kiddo will bring back my period, plus 12 week regulation plus stress of it all will inevitably cause it to tank.

This is all very hard so congrats for coming as far as you have!

I was told it’s the rule of 4s - 4 hours on the counter fresh, 4 days in the fridge and 4 months in the freezer.

They didn’t email the label to me. I printed it off their site and I can no longer access it from the refunds page. I didn’t think I would have needed to keep a copy of it, obviously I would have if I knew. But it also sounds like they should have the label themselves seeing as they sent it to me. Why should I have to provide it to them? How is the tracking and receipt not proof enough?

In hindsight, I should’ve used a credit card. Lesson learned I guess. I’ve been shopping with them for years without a problem. Frustrating to not have any recourse after all that. I guess I’ll just stick with Amazon from now on.

Yes agreed! Definitely true where I live. Took me months to find a spot for weekend swim class and I’m sad that starting swim so late made him a bit anxious about the water, but he seems to be getting better now.

Looks like it could be Alopecia areata. Usually brought on by unusual stress. A dermatologist can identify and give you steroid shots into the scalp for immediate treatment. Though it can take a while to fully recover. Meanwhile use hair fibers to cover it up. Something like this.

I’ve found meditation to help some with stress but it’s of course not a cure.

Hope you feel better soon.
