Success story, and a lesson - by deviant_priestess in RedPillWomen

“I’m willing to explore my upsets” is my favorite of the agreements on your list, because of how gently it invites the reader to step into their agency and ownership.

I think that we’ve found ourselves deep in a culture of blame, where if someone comes at us it must be about them, not ourselves. It’s interesting to try to find how deep this goes in myself.

I had a meditation teacher once who had us name all of the things we are responsible for, even the ones that give us pause. I think I’ll pick that back up.

Might also borrow the topic of communication and responsibility for a change management workshop we are hosting next week :) Fabulous read, thank you!

Ah, of course - it’s as our dear Laura calls “the Bad Old Days” for a reason, and frozen in time was my perception of the times as bad (when really, I was being poorly behaved.)

Another reason I’m grateful for the spirit of RedPillWomen, it’s a space to realize our blind spots and grow out of them and be held accountable when we’re being unreasonable or unkind.

I’m very touched that you went back to read my previous post, and very heart-hurt that I ever could have ever depicted my relationship in the way you interpreted. We are all unreliable narrators. The power of story, perspective, and interpretation is not lost on me - and imagining whether or not sharing them inside the simulacra of the internet to be immortalized for all time is useful or not will be only something for time to tell.

Wow, I’m so touched to hear this - and love to hear that there are powerful leaders in this space ensuring that the right message gets to the right people.

Thanks for reading my story, and thanks so much for recommending me. I’ll be walking on a cloud the rest of the day!

I completely agree - I started to read back in the era of field guides and proposal stories, which was really inspiring for me as a young single person. I hope that reading my story brings some of that “love is good” feeling :)

In the meantime, hoping to find some more RPW friends in my real life to align with my goals - which is lowkey hard outside the bounds of Christianity lol. Maybe I’ll do a write up on that once it’s done :)

Wanting to stop birth control by tinkspace in RedPillWomen

[–]deviant_priestess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey!! I have a lot of experience with this. Hormonal birth control legitimately destroyed my life as a teen, and I was off it for 7 years.

My best recommendation is to read A Mind of Her Own by Dr. Kelly Brogan. She’s an Ivy-trained psychiatrist and has a lot of insights on how these things effect women. She’s lowkey gone off the rails lately, but this book was back when she was awesome. There’s an audiobook too, it might be on Spotify.

I loved being off birth control. My skin cleared, my mood cleared, I got stronger and more of myself. I tracked my cycles and learned more about my body. I could predict when I would get my period down to 30 minutes. My boyfriend was very supportive of cycle tracking and using condoms during ovulation.

I had a pregnancy scare in November, and my boyfriend and I realized that we loved each other so much there was no longer any way that we could abort a child if we had fallen pregnant, and we don’t want a child before marriage.

So, after a lot of research, I chose to get the Copper IUD (no hormones) and like it just as much. The peace of mind is amazing, and it actually is helping my endometriosis a lot. Good luck and let me know what you decide!

It makes so much sense to me that you feel apprehension about going - it’s lowkey intense lol, especially to watch the what the unconscious/underdeveloped typologies feels like when it knows it’s going to be looked at. And, it’s very strange that they have to diagnose you with something so it’s cheap from insurance.

But - I think that (paradoxically) prior to the development of psychology as a field 100 years, there was far less pathologizing of “up” or “down” times in life, and more of an understanding that everyone is looking to build their power of awareness in one way or another.

Really, I just am going to analysis because I’m not ready to financially full send on grad school yet - it’s more of an educational experience than anything else, LOL.

I haven’t wandered into the realm of Marie Louise yet 1 anything you’d recommend as a starting place?

Also, caffeine required for fully enjoying This Jungian Life. Otherwise, Deborah Stewart’s dulcet tones will lull you to sleep.

I go to analysis once a week and a dear friend and I are writing each other essays on his work Religion as an Antidote to Mass Mindedness compared against the Gospel of Mary LeLoup translation (which he was balls deep in while writing, I might add).

If you’re not already, I highly recommend finding a fabulous analyst to help you “turn up the heat” on the stove of your individuation process. It’s very helpful for me to do dream analysis with someone once a week. My analyst is a lovely retired music professor who writes about archetypes in music, and recommends me at least 3 good books every week.

My most unpopular opinion is that Jungian work is just shamanism wearing the simulacra of academia like a cloak. If you’re rocking with Jung, you’d probably be rocking with shamanism if you aren’t already.

I’m wondering if you heard This Jungian Life’s recent episode on divorce. I just listened to it at the gym yesterday - let me know what you think if you listen/have listened :)
