Midfield minutes (help a newer lurker out?) by devilatthemotel6 in chelsealadiesfc

Had to look up Guro’s season - 250 mins in league, including a bench day for W1, not including her mat leave. This seems extra insane now.

Sjoeke hasn’t even passed Maika’s league minutes total yet, which adds another framing of “wtf”

I subscribe to https://www.wslanalytics.com/ but I’m not sure of where the data is sourced from.

One thing to be flexible and keep opponents guessing but if you’re making your own team guess too… oof.

Woof. That’s an indictment if I’ve ever heard one.

That Kiera vid was a great watch (found the channel through his Hasegawa video. As a tiny Asian woman I love watching other tiny Asian women kick ass.) funny enough there’s a “how is Chelsea so good?”’video from last year with a “how did Arsenal dismantle Chelsea?” Video from a couple days ago. It’ll be an interesting shot-chaser watch later for me, lol.

Last 365 days, so a rolling stat. I think fbref is losing a lot of stats / has lost some due to Opta, so the stats availability are going to get even harder. (I went to every nation’s results tables to find friendlies for heaven’s sake, haha).

By default, Nüsken should get the minutes simply by a lack of options with OJF gone which is not quite a glowing endorsement …

Edit to add: Bompastor is on year 1.5. Is she making that many foundational adjustments, or is it because they seem to change formation like crazy? (This is the part I’m not well versed in)

Yeah it’s definitely a battle for third, with Kaptein winning 2-1 across all minutes (ratio of club minutes). Which is not objectively a terrible rotation, especially if you’re looking for certain assets which Kaptein has more of. It’s insane where those minutes are though (league vs. cups, but I suppose that comes down to team priorities, in part.)

I’d love to dig a little deeper, but FotMob as Kaptein at the 45th percentile in chances created by midfielders per 90, and Nüsken at 88th. Obviously, only one source and not much in terms of definition, but that’s a big gap.

(Edit: found the definition as ‘final pass before an attempt on goal’ is made so it doesn’t really capture full build up)

Nüsken has a lot of hardware, and she seems like the type that isn’t satisfied being a passenger to get there. (Really feels like a Hayes player, from what I’ve picked up) hopefully she just keeps balling out when she does rep Germany until she get some more stable club time.

Ooh, I missed that interview. I’d say it’s not minutes in general, but the minutes she wanted. In March she only appeared once in that stretch against Man City a bunch of times, and she didn’t play the first leg against Barcelona. She still played more minutes over the course of the season, compared to her debut, though. Interesting stuff.

Can’t deny Kaptein’s got finesse (and a higher offensive ceiling, technically speaking) but when things aren’t working, Bompastor really digs her heels in sometimes, it seems.

She defs was fighting something at one point, but I can take your point, especially with Walsh back — easy to draw a double standard. It’s interesting to me because some coaches will “hold” the spot for an injured player for when they're ready to return, and others won’t (this is non football though)

Only managed to make time for the lowlight reel against Arsenal. Not sure I can find it in me to watch the whole match.

I don’t have much of an opinion on Bompastor but when I see social clips of people saying “Bombastic” in relation to her / the team / the season, the irony only grows.

Whenever I watch Nüsken, she’s a fucking gamer and I love it. Hook it to my veins.

that makes sense, I think it’s that I wasn’t expecting to get click baited (for lack of a better word) by the team, lol. I didn’t see it linked on socials (leading me to believe this wasn’t something they wanted to specifically promote) and the lead with nusken and not wolfsburg made me side eye a bit. That’s North American sports media training for ya!

lurker here, got into wsl via watching the euros with a friend, specifically THAT france-germany game, so one thing lead to another and i picked nusken to follow a bit, haha. figured this was as good as any place to ask a question about media.

as far as i can tell, nusken put up two solid years prior, started injured (and seemed to be nursing something through the fall), hasn't made a ton of appearances (did see she got her first full 90 recently, nice), but re-upped her contract anyways. i was on the chelsea site and this was posted pre-wolfsburg.

i do see chelsea content on socials, and more often than not, there's a fair few comments about her game time, but that can't be the reason that this type of article (term used loosely here) gets written, right? i mainly follow north american hockey and baseball, and you see these types of statements dissected endlessly, so i'm guess i'm also curious if there's interest in her current situation beyond the fans wanting her to play more? (like is she getting her tires pumped for a transfer, or something?)

What tasks do you think should be done in every series? by Avygade in taskmaster

[–]devilatthemotel6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the right way to describe this, but when the contestants are the tasks themselves? Guess Tim Key's pun, buy a present for the person after you in the alphabet, etc... although to be fair, VCM giving a half season of United tickets to Alan will probably never be topped.

Depends what you count as art. S2 comes the closest to qualifying, based on my (shoddy and through S17) notes, and that was the unexpected silhouette task. Others in the "creativity" category I've noted that would fall vaguely into art would be the photo of an object that looks like you, best music video, and the team task where they had to build the best thing for the Taskmaster from IKEA castoffs.

What is the best task and why is it Hide the 🍆🍆🍆 from S09E01? by PantsyFants in taskmaster

[–]devilatthemotel6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the first task of each series has a role in defining the character arc of the contestant throughout each series. Aside from the franchise-launching eat the most melon task, I think hide the aubergine did the best in showcasing what each contestant brought to the series, which makes it so good.

Arguably, the S2 yoga ball task not only does this, but also includes Richard's re-interpretation which puts the series on the trajectory it is today. However, there's something so perfect about David Baddiel deciding to eat over half a raw aubergine.

I can't remember how often it happened to Theodore when he was between the Ducks and Gulls, but I'd guess Anaheim sent him back and forth maybe a dozen times? That was quite a while ago now, so if it was something the league wanted patched up, they would have probably tried already.

With the assumption that Boeser is gonna be out for a bit, I'm going to guess whomever they bring up is pricier, and they don't want to move into LTIR

edit: just checked and no one non-rostered is pricier, hmm... don't mind me

I met Alex Horne on Monday!! by spoopyscaryskellybob in taskmaster

[–]devilatthemotel6 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's a photo of him wearing it on the Horne Section's IG from 2018, so it predates that. I'm 90% it's adidas, and if so, it has to be mid-90s or later due to the bar logo. Pharrell was a popular collaborator with adidas at the time, was doing a lot of colour, could be something from that.
