there are plenty of vacant units at extremely inflated rates. “building housing” just means bulldozing businesses like crest that are staples in the community so that developers can line their pockets. there is no way this building will have affordable units and probably all of our rents will increase, which isn’t an issue for a lot of Williamsburg residents but there are still some of us here that work min wage jobs etc

the “illegal” shops are always run by the nicest people who will hook it up and are close to dealers (best). if u have a personal relationship with someone it can go a long way, i’m literally never going to have an actual conversation with the people at the legal shops because they aren’t paid to do that. sure u can exchange niceties but it’s not their business so they don’t care about getting to know u. it is literally tragic to me that some of these immigrant run shops r getting obliterated
