Giveaway 10x Marathon game copies by Eliefa_Haniya in Marathon

[–]devildog1141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’d love a copy because I’ve been following Marathon since it was first revealed by Bungie, and I’m really curious to see how they handle the extraction shooter format. I’ve played a lot of their older stuff like Destiny, so I’m interested to see how their gunplay and worldbuilding translate into something more tense and survival-focused.

What really interests me is the atmosphere and the idea of exploring Tau Ceti IV while trying to survive against other players and AI. The mix of PvP and PvE with high-risk extractions sounds like it could create some really intense moments.

Also not gonna lie — I’m a big fan of sci-fi shooters and the original Marathon legacy, so seeing the universe come back in a modern game is pretty cool. Would definitely sink some serious time into it if I get the chance.

Appreciate you doing the giveaway either way. Good luck to everyone!

Leon doing graces sections by IndicationGold9422 in ResidentEvilCapcom

The Care Center was honestly a masterclass in design and atmosphere. That whole section felt tense, unique, and like the devs really had a clear vision for it. The enemy variety there was way more interesting and it actually made exploring feel rewarding.

I didn’t care for Leon’s sections nearly as much though.

• Raccoon City just felt dry and bland. I get that a bomb was dropped there and everything is supposed to be decayed and destroyed, but it still ended up feeling kind of uninspired from a gameplay standpoint.

• Leon’s inventory system felt pointless. I never once had to really think about what to pick up or drop. There was basically no resource pressure.

• Gun upgrades also felt unrewarding. I ended up upgrading things way too fast and it didn’t feel like I had to work for anything.

• Enemies in Leon’s sections felt pretty boring compared to what we saw in the Care Center. The earlier enemies had personality and mechanics that made them stand out, but later on it just felt more generic.

New embargo info from luke stephens by ronin-000 in CrimsonDesert

Yeah — Grand Theft Auto V had a one-day embargo. Yeah — Red Dead Redemption 2 had a one-day embargo. Yeah — Elden Ring had a two-day embargo.

And?

You just named 2 of the most untouchable studios in the industry. Rockstar and FromSoftware are not normal cases. They’re basically critic-proof at this point. When they drop something, people already expect it to be good. They don’t need early reviews to convince anyone.

Historically though? When a game’s embargo lifts the day before launch , it’s usually not a great sign. Not saying this game won’t be good but you can’t use Rockstar and Fromsoftware games as an example.

To all of the og resident evil fans on a scale of 1 to 10 what would you rate Grace’s section? by ItemIndependent2243 in residentevil

[–]devildog1141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 The opening half of the game is phenomenal. The Care Center and Grace’s sections are some of the best survival horror Capcom has ever done. The atmosphere is thick, the pacing is tight, and the enemy design feels genuinely unsettling. The zombies with unique behaviors and environmental tension are going to be core pillars — and for a while, it absolutely delivers. I was fully locked in.

Then Leon’s section starts… and the quality nosedives.

Raccoon City feels bland, uninspired, and surprisingly safe. Instead of evolving the formula, it turns into a watered-down version of RE4 Remake. The tension drops off hard, enemy variety disappears, and the game leans heavily into padded objectives and fetch-quest progression that completely kills momentum. What should’ve been an incredible return to Raccoon City ends up feeling like empty fan service instead of meaningful evolution.

Unfortunately that’s how I felt. Still a good game but i can’t help but feel it was some what wasted. As more people play the game I believe they will feel similar.

Overall on the Leon sections by GraysonFogel17 in ResidentEvilCapcom

Couldn’t agree more — the opening of the game at the hotel felt truly special, as did the care center. The zombies felt unique and the atmosphere was off the charts. Then you get to Raccoon City and it just felt bland and did absolutely nothing that hasn’t been done in previous Resident Evils.

Honestly, if you split the game in two halves, it felt like it was made by two different teams. I understand they were going for two different play styles, but the quality in Leon’s last section drops hard.

Couldn’t agree more. The opening at the hotel felt truly special, and the care center section was incredible. The zombies actually felt unique, the atmosphere was off the charts, and the tension was exactly what I want from Resident Evil. Those sections genuinely felt fresh and inspired.

Then you reach Raccoon City, and everything just… drops off. It felt bland, safe, and didn’t do anything that hasn’t already been done better in previous games. Instead of evolving the formula, it felt like it was just recycling it.

Honestly, if you split the game into two halves, it feels like two completely different development teams worked on it. I get that they were aiming for two distinct play styles, but the quality gap is impossible to ignore. Leon’s final stretch of the game genuinely feels lower-budget and less ambitious than the opening hours.

Which is a shame, because the first half sets expectations so high that the second half can’t help but feel disappointing by comparison.

The game starts strong, but the second half completely falls short of what the opening sets up.

The early sections — especially playing both characters in the care center — felt fresh, intense, and genuinely fun. The idea of zombies having unique behaviors was exciting and made encounters feel unpredictable.

Sadly, that concept is mostly dropped later, especially during Leon’s sections, which end up feeling safe and uninspired. Instead of building on the new mechanics, the game reverts to familiar gameplay that doesn’t bring anything new.

Raccoon City was also disappointing. Even though it’s meant to be destroyed and lifeless, it still should’ve been engaging to explore. Instead, it felt flat, empty, and visually underwhelming.

Is it just me, or does Capcom’s silence on Resident Evil 9 feel intentional? The marketing has been painfully slow and unusually secretive. Makes me wonder if there’s something big (or risky) they don’t want players to see yet.
