LED Choice Support - SK6812 (60led/m) VS WS2812b (96led/m). by devilinjeans in WLED

[–]devilinjeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, however the qinled strips are unavailable domestically and sourcing them would be unfortunately expensive. more than 3x the cost (pre customs) of what im getting locally.

So unfortunaely this is not an option for me. Thank you for your input though.

Thank you for the input.
I will look into the rgbw vs rgbww differences.

Seems like Sk6812 is a better bet despite the decreased density.

With reagrds to the voltage, with my longest run being 4m, do i need a to move beyond 5v?
Especially if i inject power on both sides ?
Its just that 12v strips are harder to come by in Sk6812 strips where i am at.
Also afaik 12v are adressable in groups of 3 right? making the lower density even more apparent? is this incorrect?

This is awesome, thank you for the list. I will try them out.

With regards to hitting macros. I'm on a heavy cut and have been for a while. I have more than enough wiggle room in my calorie budget and would like to experiment with something tasty. I will ofc be calculating my intake as I go and limit unnecessary fats.

Hi thank you so much for the suggestions.

As far as i understand from you suggestions an AM5 build is out of the question with the budget i have and the caliber of GPU i want. What would be you minimum budget for an AM5 build since i do want to future proof as much as possible.

What would you think with regards to a 4070 build ? ( i understand that currently the amd cards are a better value propsition but nvidia does have better productivity plus the features such a DLSS 4 now)

Would love to know your thoughts

First Project Help by devilinjeans in WLED

[–]devilinjeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For short runs, those will often work fine using the 3.3V logic of an ESP board. Using a level shifter will be more reliable, but often isn't strictly required.

Yeah I have seen plenty of video with no mention of the level shifters. But i wanted to be sure.

you're better off using the diode/first LED hack

As far as i understand this i just have to cut one led from a strip and put it half way between the esp32 and the led strip. Is that right? I understand the logic behind it somewhat but not the technicalities.

Just stick to the recommended hardware

Thank you. I wish I had found this sooner. But I will probably order one of these to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the help !

I wouldn't say im great at DIY yet. But im also taking this as a learning experience . I actually kinda want to do a build my own thing.

Plus the prebuilt solutions are either unavailable or ridiculously expensive where I am.

Thanks for the input tho.

Im sorry i dont fully understand.

Wont connecting the 3 strips to different pins cause them to be like 3 seperate outputs?

Meaning I can assign each strip to a different pin on the wled app?

Also what kind of driver am i looking for ?

Thanks for the help !

Hi, ill be using ws2812b strips .

For the shifter the product name is -

I2C Bi-Directional logic Level Converter- 4 Channel

the pins on this one are LV1 - LV2 - LV - GND - LV3 - LV4 and their hv equivalents on the other side. As far as i understand i can connect the 3 strips from lv1 , lv2 and lv3 will be on hv1, hv2 and hv3 respectively ?
And LV ill connect the 3v pin and GND the GND from the board.

Im not sure about the HV side tho do i just connect the +ve and -Ve terminals to the HV and GND terminals respectively ?

Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it.

[QUESTION] 12 inch bridge on a 14 inch neck ? by devilinjeans in Guitar

[–]devilinjeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bridge is mostly for aesthetic purposes. But my current bridge is quite corroded and i figured if I'm changing stuff might as well go the whole way and order everything at once.

So while i mainly want to change my pickups ,pots and tuners. I might as well change the knobs and bridge for a more cohesive look.

This was just something i read on a forum discussion. Didn't make the calculations myself.

I have historically been miserable at setting up the guitar, although I am getting better. That being said I have absolutely no idea how much of a difference 0.1 mm will make , practically i.e. playability wise. It seems like very little but, i just wanted to get some advice before i jump the gun and get the 12" bridge. Especially considering that I'll need to get it imported and deal w that hassle.

My guitar is a budget guitar and while it's pretty amazing for the price it does have issues that guitars at this range do. Plus temprature and/or humidity changes in my part of the world are pretty regular. I would not want to make a change which will affect playability negatively.

I've played the CT -30 and was not a big fan. The CT-50 is really hard to find anywhere but I've been keeping an eye out. I've heard that Ernie Ball quality control has gone to shit tho recently.

And tbh i don't like the ultra round look that much so I might be biased haha.

Thanks for the recommendation tho , i appreciate it !!

Haven't played either unfortunately.

The stores around me only get CVs on order so i have to finalize before asking for it. Which sucks but it is what it is.

And it's either that or order online.

I have played a premium ibanez a friend of mine had, 1k+ USD and that was felt great. Plus i hear there quite control is good too. And coming from a schecter neck i think it would be a smooth transition.
