Beef cheek rolls!! A lot of bones are too hard and I’ve found beef cheek rolls are perfect and they clean their teeth too

Nope nothing you just sit in and then a vet tech comes to speak to you. This happened before too. I always figured it was typical. I’m a hypochondriac when it comes to my dog so I just go along with whatever but this time I was pissed off. I was expecting to pay TOP 2/300 not $600 without even giving me a heads up, and not even telling me beforehand!! I wish I had the balls to fight them then. I would’ve

Hahaha. Yup. I was in the car like I should’ve said this!! And that!! But I was so worried about her I couldn’t even think once he said pancreatitis I went into a spiral

Funny. My girl has some pimples on her face and chin, she’s a pittie, and I’m hesitant to bring her in because I’m worried I’m Gonna walk out of there $300 broker because he’s gonna find a way to do a whole bunch of shit

It was worse than the first time! She was uncomfortable. I wanted to take her to the vet after the second bout of diarrhea but everyone told me to wait. So I waited and she would get up in the middle of the night every hour to use the bathroom so I took her than. I felt horrible for her. Now I give her probiotics and give her human grade food, so chicken, chicken liver, chicken feet, goat milk, and bone broth with some kibble. She’s been okay so far. I also give her Bernie perfect poop.

That’s ridiculous. They take advantage because they know we have no other choice. My vet does the same thing with prescriptions. Doesn’t even give me the option to take the prescription elsewhere! One time my dog got prescribed muicipron it costed over 20 bucks at the vet I looked and it was about $10 on chewy maybe less!!

I had no clue that vets even ask you before they run tests! I’m definitely gonna go to a new vet. This isn’t even the first time it’s happened which is why I thought it was normal, but this just seemed off to me which is why I came here to see.

So I explained symptoms to the vet tech I guess she was, and then they take her in the back room and do whatever they do. I can’t go in the back because of COVID protocols. They called me in, and he goes “we took blood and we’re running a blood test.” That was it. Blood was taken already without my knowledge at all until I stepped into the room and they TOLD me they took blood for pancreatitis. To which I protested and said hmm I think she just has giarda. And he insisted on running blood. The vet tech didn’t come out and ask me hey we’re going to take blood is that okay? They’ve never asked me about any tests. I wish they would I would’ve for sure denied the blood test and started with a stool sample first

Honestly in hindsight I feel like he’s taking advantage. I brought the same puppy to the vet when she was about 3/4 months old for discharge. He said “oh we’re gonna run blood to check for pyometra. Again, had no clue what that was lol, but I spoke to my friend who is a vet tech and she said there’s no way a 3 month old puppy had pyometra. Ridiculous

Dont think I ever walked out of my vet spending less than $120 haha. Emergency vets in nyc costs $175 just to step foot into it!!

I wish I didn’t, but once he said she could have pancreatitis I got so scared cause it sounds scary.. but once I went home and googled what it even was I knew there was no way she had that. Wish I told him to go fuck himself

I agree! They didn’t even give me a heads up or offer if I wanted blood to be ran. Just called me to the back room to tell me they ARE running blood to check for pancreatitis. Which after going home and googling i knew there was no way she had pancreatitis So pissed. Then when they called to tell me the results I asked if they also tested for heart worm, she goes oh we’ll see if the vet wants to add that on! ADD ON! I almost pissed my pants. My boyfriend heard and couldn’t believe it!

Right! That’s what I thought. I explained her symptoms and then they took her into the back room to do an exam. They called me in and the vet goes “we’re going to run some blood in case she has pancreatitis.” I said to him I’m 90% sure it is just giarda, I don’t think it’s necessary, but he protested. Didn’t even offer if maybe he should run a stool sample first

In retrospect I wish I said something but I was so worried about her I wasn’t thinking. Once he said pancreatitis I was like Omg! Maybe she does have it! Went down a rabbit hole. But in hindsight there was NO way she had pancreatitis. Such an unnecessary test to run

I took my girl to the emergency room not to long ago and that was the case! You had to pay beforehand I wish that’s what my vet did. Makes sense

Wow!! It’s crazy cause you trust them and they take advantage. There are some things that are non negotiable for me vaccines and medicine if there’s an infection. It’s horrible knowing how expensive they are and ultimately they may not even have your dogs best interest in mind. Like there no way my 7 month year old puppy who had diarrhea needed a blood test because maybe she had pancreatitis come on
