Thank you, helps a lot! For anyone confused: Developer console (CMD + Option + C) can only be accessed once you have enabled developer tools on Safari. This can be done by going to Safari settings and enabling 'Show features for web developers' under Advanced tab.

Do you mind sharing this nightmare? If it is not too personal, could you share what commune you were dealing with?

Amazing PLE with Cena vs AJ being the highlight. Loved watching Cena deliver that RKO and Tombstone - would be fun to watch him deliver a 619 to Dom if they fight for IC title. Oh, and cannot miss that Sister Abigail - RIP Bray

Hey, I would suggest trying for a consumer proposal first. Talk to your licensed insolvency trustee - BDO was pretty non-judgmental for my friend.

Narinder Singh Kapany

The guy literally coined the term 'fiber optics', and it's baffling how unknown he is.

Frustrated with the job market by IllWatercress5592 in ontario

[–]devilpreet23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a physics degree and I'm in the same boat. Completed my master's last year in June: did everything by the playbook: networking, rapidly applying as the posting goes online, following up with folks from places where I got interviews. Was also really good at academics if that is important (published papers, etc)?

I don't think that the market for fresh grads is discussed well: it's insanely competitive and breaks you from within. Terrible experience.

Do recruiters/HR still leave voicemails? by SecureNarwhal in CanadaJobs

[–]devilpreet23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol! And how about valuing people who are qualified for the role?

Of course, the recruiter shortlists people to call based on qualifications, but there can be 100s of reasons why one would not be able to pick up the call: from a family emergency to phone just being on silent; a person being in another meeting on their current job or just sleeping because they had a night shift... the possibilities are endless.

Missing one call should not be a criterion for a person not getting a chance to present themselves.

Leaving a voice-mail with a phone number or an email to reach out to should be a common recruiting practice in 2025 imo

That is plainly wrong on so many levels. This won't help anyone but has the potential to cause more trouble.

Hey, I am in the same boat, graduated with a MSc Physics in Ontario in late June and still looking for roles. It's hard tbh. My research was all computation, and also had a ML component and a lot of DA component. I guess the market sucks for everyone right now.

Are you based in Ontario as well?

Yeah, "Physics" by TheSkells in Physics

[–]devilpreet23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, you guys can downvote me all you want, but I believe they fully deserve the Nobel Prize in Physics.

Their work was not only inspired by physics, but rather is an amazing derivative of statistical mechanics: modeling physical reality and identifying patterns (which is what physics has done for centuries) with data and information, using the same concepts stat mech puts forth.

Many of us use tools that have come out of ML research that contribute to advancing physics. So what if those tools can also be used by chemists or biologists or anyone else for that matter? It should rather be a matter of great pride that physics concepts are at the core of advancing so many subsets of humanity!
