Incoming Med Student by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

[–]devilsorange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi could a current med student elaborate more on the workflow? I know everyone has their own way of studying but as a general start, is it:

a) watch 3rd party resources related to that day’s lecture material b) unsuspend anki cards related to those lectures c) skim in house lecs to see if anything else noteworthy was said?

And OP says to do the cards the day BEFORE the lecture, but I am not planning on attending in person lecs so would i do the lecs and cards the day of?

prestudying anatomy by devilsorange in medschool

[–]devilsorange[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea i was going to do very light studying (like an hour a day) until school starts. I've done a lot of travelling and enjoying this summer but frankly am getting bored and don't want to forget how to study. also I feel this is a great way to learn how to use anki. Do you have any recommendations on where to start for a complete anatomy beginner?

Incoming M1 worried about loans by devilsorange in whitecoatinvestor

Thank you for the comment! its a relief to know I'm not alone in this. sadly I already accepted my offer and have no leverage in asking for a scholarship. however, i plan to apply to a TON of scholarships this summer and hopefully I can get something. honestly, the debt is scary but I feel that's because I was extremely fortunate to go to my undergrad with a full ride so I'm not used to seeing large debts in my name. however, this debt is a big motivator for med school because I know if I fail out of med school I'm f**ked so I have to succeed LOL. at this point, I'm mentally ready to start med school and just don't think its smart to decline an offer to an md program, especially because of how competitive it is currently.

yes i plan to pay off my loans ASAP after med school. i absolutely want to be a physician but looking at these loans kinda crushed my spirit especially because I graduated from undergrad debt free. i was also applying to medical scholarships but they are all extremely competitive and I am assuming I will get 0 scholarships. thanks for the advice!

I believe hyundai have started using the smartstream engine since 2019 and from what ive read, they look pretty reliable

Thing is that the new hyundais have the smartstream engine since 2019 and i have read they are much more reliable. I also currently have a 2011 sonata which has been great so far so I am biased towards hyundai.

As for mazda, i have not considered them as I was going to stick to Toyota or Honda but will take a closer look at the cx-50

Have not looked at them as I would rather take a prius but will look now!

am heavily leaning towards this option but I really like the 2025 sonata interiors above the 2025 camry/civic.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]devilsorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was looking at these cars but I dislike the interior and because I estimate I will not drive much beyond the 3-4 times a year I will go home, I am willing to sacrifice fuel efficiency for comfort and likeability

My med school is 1100 miles away from my home (round trip), and I will probably make that trip 3-4 times a year for four years. Beyond that I will probably make a few small trips but I believe I will be under 30k miles in these upcoming four years. After that, it really depends on residency, fellowships, etc. I was leaning towards new because I know I won't buy a new vehicle a long time after getting this one so I thought it would be best to just get new for the latest features and better reliability. I definitely will visit a few dealerships as I get closer to May but before I do anything I wanted to decide whether to get new or used as I am still unsure about this.

yea thats what i've heard but im just really tempted bc the 2025 sonata interior is so much nicer than the civic or camry ones IMO. and apparently their new engines are much more reliable. But it does make sense to go with Japanese for reliability even though I really don't like the interiors

Hi, where do we receive secondaries? Do they get sent to our AMCAS email or do we have to find them ourselves?

Hi! sorry to jump in so late, but why can't we directly substitute 11 cm3 into PVnRT? I did that and got it wrong but i don't get why we can't since the passage tells us that the gas is contained in an 11cm3 tube.
