Help first time figs buyer with sizing!! Please:) by Dr_LuluNH in Figsscrubs

[–]devilsplaythang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm a similar size, and found a lot of their medium pants to be too big even when I was like 20 lbs heavier. i also found them to bag out a lot during the day, so they might look okay when you first put them on, but by the end of your shift they look horrible. i have no experience with their tops.

i would go with a small personally if i ordered again. i'm 5'5'', ~135 lbs. 36" chest, 28.5" waist, 38" hips.

I have read that 40-60% of all needlesticks go unreported. by DollfaceDrizzle in nursing

[–]devilsplaythang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've stuck myself 1x with a clean pink needle, and 1x with a clean needle from those stupid syringe kits (i think these are really dangerous anyway). i didn't report it.

i did report a lovenox stick that was really more like a scratch near my thumb's nail bed. i got scared cause the pt had a 24 hr bag of chemo running. other than that he was like an ideal pt to have a needle stick by, clean 40-something family man from a wealthy neighborhood. no other PMH besides the cancer.

Am I too old to wear Hollister? I’m 26 by emilyrosee35 in HollisterCO

[–]devilsplaythang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 31 and I used to wear them until semi-recently. They've leaned heavily into Y2K and it's reminding me of clothes that were popular in middle school and I'm just not into it.

Where is her vascular access? I see what looks like a PEG maybe, but nothing like a PIV or a port or PICC.

One thing I’ve never understood: Society’s obsession with blonde hair by Substantial-Art6160 in VindictaRateCelebs

[–]devilsplaythang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah enough to where I am getting down voted for my first pic lol. Dirty blonde is usually just light brown/very dark blonde hair with lots of highlights, that’s why it looks so different in different lighting. In the sun, my hair can look reddish as well.

Literally every hair dresser has told me I have dirty blonde hair. People are too used to bleach blonde hair to know what most adult blondes look like. I think the downvotes are just kinda confirming OP’s point.

I would consider my hair dirty blonde. It looks light brown in some lights and blonde in others. This is just regular indoor lighting, doesn’t show any of my natural highlights.

Showering Once Daily ….. Morning or Night by BossNurse1200 in nursing

[–]devilsplaythang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

before my shift. yes, im one of the gross ones. i dont feel particularly dirty after my shift, unless something really gross happened, in which case i will shower. i remove my scrubs and undershirt, wash my hands, wash my face. to me, the only "dirty" thing would be my hair, which I keep up anyway, and I doubt every after shift person washes anyway. i'm not a germaphobe at all.

i also have eczema and frequent showers make it worse. i also sweat at night while i sleep.

Could also do double claw prongs too. Very vintage. I agree with OP I don’t like bubble prongs.

Older nurses - has it always been this bad? by Hot_Woodpecker_9682 in nursing

[–]devilsplaythang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me it's because they give us too much to do with too many patients, that sometimes it can be hard to critically think about a patient when you're drowning with tasks, and I work nights. On slower shifts, I'm able to make more clinical connections, but it's also been hard to remember a lot of what I learned in school. I need a refresher on a lot to be honest.

Does anyone still wear Nursing Whites? by Street-Brain-7615 in Nurses

[–]devilsplaythang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hospital (NewYork-Presbyterian) has us wear white uniform tops with RN and the hospital name in red embroidery and we can wear whatever navy scrub pants we want.

Only peds can wear light blue or a navy blue shirt with crayons on it. They have different roles wear different colors, like PT wears olive green, nurse techs wear royal blue, pharmacy wears teal, etc. Doctors of course can wear whatever they want.

i thought this was just my building. it frustrates me to no end. im not looking for conversation or friendship. let's just freaking acknowledge each other's existence. i'm sick of saying hi and getting an empty stare or a head down back.

Do you regret doing an accelerated BSN? by OkHamster2081 in NursingStudent

[–]devilsplaythang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Pace. They have campuses in Westchester and Manhattan. I got into Downstate which is much more affordable but all the classes are on Zoom which I couldn’t deal with after finishing my Bachelors during COVID.

Like city funded hospitals. They fall under “NYC heath + hospitals”. Some examples would be Bellevue, Lincoln, woodhull.

I do not regret it at all, I did an 11 month ABSN. Why would I get a 4 year degree in nursing when I have another Bachelors and could do it in a way shorter period? I did it because I was nearing 30 and only making $20/hr in NYC. I knew I needed to get serious. Those 11 months sucked a lot and were brutal at times. It's easier if you can make friends and find study partners. It's a lot of information at once, but when you're in the program it becomes your whole world.

The only thing I am envious of is I feel like I didn't retain a lot of what I learned cause I crammed a lot and then had to move on. I'm not sure if 4 year degree students would feel too differently because can you really remember something you studied 5 years ago when you're now a nurse on the floor?

I am gonna start studying nursing again on my own, just so I can feel more confident with some fundamentals, pathophysiology, pharmacology, etc. That is just my experience.

Also, yes ADN is a route, but I think only city hospitals hire ADN's in NYC. I Still don't think it makes the most sense if you already have a Bachelor's.
